OK, I understand that the development of COT's is kinda random, but is there any sense in having 3 extra COT's showing up in, of all places, Connecticut, Monterrey and yes! Olympia !

The only other COT in the area is Zacatecas, sending all my extremely valuable portugese stuff to the COT of Tago, which everybody and their grandmother knows about, thus limiting my share of that trade to a max of 5/20. Help.

The year of our Lord is 1620 or so and a good 90% of South America has been settled.

One other thing, does anybody know anything interesting to do with Portugal after the colonists dry up except for beat the living hell out of Spain? His most Catholic Majesty (I just love saying this) Felipe is boring his royal arse off.

Later!

Portugal doesn't tend to get a COT there unless it's very big. It's very likely those other COTs are controlled by different countries and that's why they get one. When the need is high and the homeland is far away. Portugal very often gets one in the East Indies.

I'm just playing a game and the first one to pop up was Zacatecas for Spain. I was playing the Dutch and I have a certain love for colonising the Caribbean and I was busy doing that. Built a lot of TPs and a city in Jamaica. Now I played a lot of games but I have never seen a COT pop up in the Caribbean but voilà, there it was, Jamaican COT. For example when I colonised it with England and I had a COT in Manhattan, no COT popped up. When I played Spain, no COT there and so on. There must be a ceratin need and Brazil must be doing just fine coming to Tago.

Have you (or has anybody else) colonised St. Helena, the Falklands, and Magellanes? Those are good bets for CoTs, and in the case of the first two, probably nobody else will know where to find them, and most of your Brazilian trade will (probably) go there.

Oh, and ... why have your colonists dried up? Go Counter-Reformed, you have a shipyard, that's two a year.. or is there just nowhere left to colonise? :D

Yeah, the AI just seems to LOVE islands for CoTs. I've seen them pop up in the Falklands, Bourbon Isle (Twice!), Viti Levu, Tahiti, Cape Verde, Fernando Po, and various islands in the Carribbean and Indonesia. ANd they even pop up when they are only level 1 colonies!

About the colonists drying up, I've still got one left from my Shipyard, but the EoT event has already happened. I've been reformed back into normal Catholicism, but CR is still available as an option, I read somewhere that this is a bug that happens when you are at war during the EoT event.

I don't want to cheat by going back to CR. It's not really that my colonists dried up, it's that I want at least 4 a year so I can get my colonizaton projects off the ground. Current Projects: All profitable African Colonies, Southern US Cotton Provinces, Quebec, Eastern Coast Canada/US Brazil, and the East Indies, only known to ME!! (muhahahahahaha).

All advice (as usual) very welcome!

I don't think it is a bug to revert back to CR cathoilicism after EoT. There still were plenty of CR movements after that. U just lose ur CBs though seeing ur supposed to be tolerant now.

COTs tend to pop up in islands I guess cuz they cover a whoel wide area without a COT. Granted it's all salty water but still :D
