I combined two explorers to defeat a group of pirates, and now I can't figure out how to separate them. If I create a new fleet from the old one, it just has some schmuck commanding it, with no apparent way to transfer one of my explorers to the new fleet. Also, the "split" button is greyed out for some reason, so I can't use that.
Does anyone know what to do about this?

When fleets are under a certain size (6 I think) the computer doesnt allow you to split them. If you want to reorganize the fleet and put a good admiral in controll instead of a crap one (clinton vs drake) then you need 5 ships plus the number of leaders. for 6 leaders you need 11 ships. You split one leader off and then put all ships bar one back in the main fleet. Then continue untill you have all leaders with one ship. Then merge the leaders you want with the fleet into the fleet and the leaders you dont want with the fleet into another fleet (consiting of their one ship fleets) then send all but one of the unwanted commanders ships to the main fleet. Then you have the leader you want in command. Send the unwanted leaders back home so they are a reserve if all your good leaders die off.
