I noticed that whenever I go to marry members of my own court... the game slows down so bad that moving my mouse becomes almost impossible, it goes so slow compared to how I move it normal, any ideas? Yeah I got a huge court, and I intermarry them, but jeez it takes forever just to get 1 marriage set up... its just strange that it JUST happens when doing that. Every other action is normal speed.

Got 256 MB ram, windows 98, not sure if any other info would help, if it would, pls ask :)

I don't know that there is much I can do to help if it is that one area, It is taxing your system.

Yeah hrm wonder why its doing, guess I'll up the Ram, its just strange. never seen it with a game, and making games for a living its really weird, oh well thanks for the response... I'll get ram eventually... didn't think it would tax a Pentium 4 3.0mhz system either... maybe I need to upgrade my OS
and get 512 ram in it.

Question: Have you tried pausing the game, setting up the marriage and then unpausing the game?

I usually pause the game when trying to set up marriages anyway, but I think this may help you work around your issue for the moment.

You're almost certainly into your swap memory so if you haven't defraggd your hard drive recently then this will greatly slow down your system as the swap file could be fragmented all over the place. You may want to make a copy of your save game (in a different folder or your desktop), uninstall CK, defrag your drive, then reinstall and then move the save back in. Even better would be to create a dedicated swap partion but this is harder to do under Win98 than with XP so you should only try this if you know what you're doing.

Responces in this forum should be constructive please!

I have the same problem, except that it starts when ever I open the diplomacy screen for my own realm. Clicking any other realm's shield is fine, and I do this while paused.

And yes, I do have a very large court (the court section of my character profile overflowed, and all court members are stacked directly on top of each other).

What are your Memory and operating specs?

Bismarck: I always pause the game for marriages, and 100 years into the game every couple of months I can do like 10 marriages. And it sometimes takes forever to do it. My mouse even in the beginning of the game lags a bit, but nothing major, it just gets to the point where I can't do a dang thing when I click my nations shield, just to click the propose a marriage line takes forever cause my mouse is just soooo lagging. I always pause the game when handling things.

I defrag weekly so I don't think that the problem, but I'll uninstall the game then do it and try it again. I imagine I'm into by swap memory... how much Ram should I get to avoid using it :). I know how to make a swap portion, but its unnecessary since I already have a dedicated 60 Gig HD to the game, although it shares the drive with all of Paradox's games :D, thanks Mr T.

Well Vodkafire, My best computer that I use to program with... a Quad P4 3 Ghz computer has only 4 Gigs or Ram:( I know soooo 2003 :). But I don't game with that machine, its work only :(... just program endless amounts of sport games :(... If only I could learn swedish and move to Paradox :D. And besides I basically only played Paradox games, and my 256MB of ram has served me well up to CK :)

Its ok Castellon, I can laugh at it, my Quad P4 3Ghz is better then most people's machines in the forum so I can take a joke

LordVagrant - Thats my problem although you said it ALOT better then I did. Grammar isn't my strength. But these boards help a TON compared to any other when it comes to support, so answer Castellon! :)

I would suggest 512 with win 98.

512 Would be the min with XP 1 GIG = good, yes. :)

Why not post a link to your thread in the bug forum then.

I've also had this problem. It gets progressively worse as time goes on. However, I've noticed that once the king dies and a heir takes over it starts all over again. It works great at first and then gets progressively worse. Must be some way the game handles memory in that situation. Perhaps that will help you guys isolate it.

Okay I am closing this thread because it is really a bug forum issue and a thread already exists over there.
