I had search the website about The First 30 Years of Aviation in Afghanistan . http://www.artiklar.z-bok.se/Afghanistan-1.html.Now i have some quetion about it .Russian government sent some pilots to Afghanistan , included V. V. Goppe , Pilot E. Gorodetsky , K. Baikov , Jakob I. Zhurba. I want to know more information about this pilots , but i translate these names to Russian and use Google and Yandex to search them , there are no information about it . Can anybody help me .

This is quite esoteric info you are looking for. Seached in Russian and all could come up with was basically the same Andersson article. Goppe (most likely Latvian) was a test pilot and was awarded with order of red banner for 1924 Termez-Kabul flight and that's about it.

yes i had tried , but still no detailed information , can you give me a help.

I spent a lot of time researching the Russian - Afghan war years back. What I remember is that the Afghans were not afraid of the Russian land armies, but were terrified of the Hip and Hind helicopter tactics.

Their solution was they had to haul heavy caliber AAA to the tops of the mountain and shoot down on the copters, until Charlie Wilson provided them Stingers.

Afghanistan was never a winning proposition for the Soviets. And it is well known there is only one good and valuable, if unethical, reason to occupy and garrison Afghanistan in the first place; but it costs the occupier a lot in terms of face, blood, and prestige.
