I'm currently playing the Fantasy scenario as the Iroquois. It's my first full game, and all is fantastic. But something bugs me and that is that about 2/3 times per year there is a short two-tone (difficult to write but it's a sort of 'ping-pong') sound that goes off without an accompanying message.

At first I thought the sound tells you when a new colonist is ready, but I've looked and that isn't it. Then I thought it might indicate the end/beginning of winter, but that doesn't appear to be it either.

Anybody got a clue what this sound means? I'm a bit worried it might mean something bad but can't find what it is.

Sounds

I know there are several different sounds, I've discovered that when an army is ready, there is a sound of marching soldiers. There is also a sound when you upgrade an aspect of a city but I also have some unexplained sounds.

For clarity's sake, it's not the marching boots sound, nor the launching of a ship one. Nor does the PingPong sound seem to coincide with any upgrade of fortification or officials (but I could be mistaken there).

do you mean a sound played by a harp ?
it sometimes goes up, sometimes down. i too have no idea as to what this could be, but i suspect it has something to do with traders and COT´s.

Even I learn something new once in a while =)

I didn't realize there were 2 harp sounds until it was mentioned above. In the sound directory they are labelled as random1 and random2. Now what is the difference? If the sound goes up is it a 'good' event and if it goes down a 'bad' event? Gotta love that attention to detail ;)
