Stellaris can't see territory

Playing on a mac (Version 10.9.5 and meeting requirements) and I can't see any territory boundaries. I can see that I'm supposed to be blue on the galaxy overview but it doesn't show up at all. I wasn't sure what was going on but I didn't care until I met another empire and I couldn't see their territory either.

If I zoom out further I can see the logo/flag and name of the empires but it's only over the homeworld and doesn't really help much.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?
