Hello -- longtime player, first time caller.

As of this morning, Stellaris has been crashing on my machine at launch out of the launcher, with cryptic reasons. It was running perfectly yesterday. I followed the instructions on these forums, completely uninstalling and wiping out directories to do a totally clean install multiple times, to no avail.

I'm on version (3.8.2) on a Mac, with all DLC downloaded. The error that the launcher window shows is:

[systemsettings.cpp:44] CPU Model: Intel

[systemsettings.cpp:45] CPU Speed: 2200MHz

I did the trick with adding userdir.txt to the app directory, which removes that one error line, but the rest of the errors still happen. I removed the dlcs with errors above, and ran again to no avail (the error output just doesn't show those lines anymore but it still dies)

Then I found the exception.txt (attached), which has a whole lot of c++ (malloc?) errors in it. It's not totally clear if these are related to the dlc issues above.

Anyone know what might be going on?

I don't know what could cause that, the game runs fine under 13.3.1 (a) for me using the current game patch.

What if you run it from stellaris.app directly from Finder?

No need to do that. That 'error' is just the game's way of detecting if that file is in use, it won't help this problem I am sure.

Thanks for the response, I got the same error launching the app directly, so I did a clean reinstall THEN rebooted, and then it worked again (woohoo!) There must have been some file/process somewhere that was locked that was causing it that was cleared out by the reboot.

Thanks for the help (and the luck!)
