Stellaris- Game instantly crashes after pressing the host game button

I am able to play single player games, and join lobbies, but whenever I try to host the game instantly crashes, If I try to host a new game it is on the initial pop up to enter the password, the game freezes and stays like this forcing me to task manage the game.
When trying to host a current game it crashes when selecting the save I wish to play, again freezing and forcing me to task manage the game.
Checked firewalls and drivers, everything checks out. I have not had any issues in the past, this is the first problem I have had with the game.

Did this first happen immediately after the most recent game patch? Or before or after that?

In the launcher select Cross Store MP in the drop list next to the PLAY button. Does it happen then too?

Launching in Cross Store MP seems to have worked as it did not instantly crash, will update once I go into a game with others.
