Hello,
I've been having a problem with my copy of Stellaris on my XBox Game Pass, and I'd appreciate some advice. I have searched for other forum posts on this problem and they either a) pertain to another version of the game on Steam/Console/etc OR b) tell me to uninstall and reinstall, which I have done 3 times already.

So, the problem is this: I have the Xbox game pass (Ultimate) and I have previously enjoyed that version of Stellaris on PC with all the DLC I purchased from the MS Store. Never had a single problem with them being recognized, for close to a year.

Sometime before the release of Overlord, I started having an issue where my Game Pass games refused to launch (due to a separate Game Services/Windows Update issue) This went on for some time, and I tried solving it my reinstalling the Game Pass app, the game, numerous attempts. Soon after that my internet got cut due to nonpayment (unemployed). But after a few months I got my internet back, but still no go on the Game Services fix. I had to wait a few months before I could get around to reinstalling my OS completely from the ground up.

To sum up the above paragraph - it worked just fine for around a year, but then I had to give up the game for a bit.

So now, I just reinstalled Windows, and everything else, and the first thing I tried was installing my Game Pass games, and they work!!! So, of course I started adding my DLC to Stellaris (which shows in the MS Store as 'Owned', and installed through the Game Pass app just fine)

But, once I started the game, I noticed the Humanoid portraits were partially greyed out, and when I checked it recognized NONE of the DLC that, outside of the game, say "Installed"

I know this problem has been going around intermittently, but I never found a suitable solution for anyone on PC Game Pass. So far, I've tried reinstalling several times, tried launching a MP game, tried just doing 1 DLC at a time, etc.

Are there any other steps for me to take before I just give up the game for good? It seems like my only other option is to just purchase the base game and DLC from Paradox, but I really don't have the money to do that right now. It would be a shame for me to have to set aside a game (one I've put probably 500-600 hours into) because I can't get it to work properly, and go play something else, but that looks to be my only option these days. But GalCiv3 is just not the same... Please help... I want my fully featured Stellaris. At this rate my console version has more DLC installed & recognized than the PC version.

Thanks in advance for your time!
BDG

I did get this from one affected Gamepass user:

In case anyone else had issues when they purchased the season pass from gamepass.
The season pass shows no downloads and the dlc by itself looks like you need to purchase it.
Click the dlc and click the purchase.
It’ll change and say you own this already.
Click the same box that now says you own this already and it’ll ask you to download it.
Do the download and boom it finally adds
You need to do it for both northern and RC downloads.

Please let us know if that helps you!

Kind of confusing to understand what they're talking about. "Season Pass on Game Pass"? I never saw a Game Pass season pass - I only installed the base game for free from Game Pass, then purchased all of the DLC through the Game Pass app (which links to the MS Store), which then installed it to my game. This is how it worked forever...

The closest I can come to what is suggested here is that, if I click the DLC's "View In Store" button from inside the game, it launches the MS Store page, and it shows that I own the DLC, and just has a button for "Install On This Device". When I do that, it downloads, installs, gives me confirmation. But when I check the game again, no DLC. But I guess it's all I've got to go on for now, so I'll keep trying different permutations and get back to you.

Starting to think my problem is more linked to my Version of Windows 10 - I had thought I had updated it after the most recent reinstall, but I'm still stuck on a 19XX build (which is what the original issue was - can't update to Build 20H2 because of some glitch in my version of Windows 10, and any version prior to that has been having issues with Game Pass not working properly)

I suppose unless someone else has a suggestion, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a brand new version of Win11 and install it some day. But it won't be any time soon. Meanwhile I'm going to try to update my version of Windows 10 manually and see if that helps.

Having the same issues. Doing this doesn't change anything for me. Tested it, too. Now I have to do a return.

So, I'm still having this issue. I have Game Pass Ultimate, which include PC games. None of the DLC, which says available with Game Pass, is available to me.

Please help. I have to play a swarm and devour galaxies.

I'm under the impression that buying or getting the game on GamePass only gets you the base game, no DLCs - you need to buy them separately. However I'm not familiar with the Ultimate one you mention; is that supposed to include all DLCs?

Not sure which of us you were replying to, but since I started the thread...
Ultimate combines PC Game Pass and Console Game Pass, and includes Streaming.
It doesn't include any of the DLC for Stellaris - just the base game as you said.
In my case, I purchased all of the DLC myself outside of the Game Pass (through the Xbox app), but the actual core game was free. And it worked fine together until about a year ago. The store recognizes I have them purchased, and installs them, but the base game doesn't recognize them.
The other person may be confused, I don't know.

Dough... So .I too seem to be stuck with this dilemma. I built a nice gamming rig that can handle pops. The base "free not free" Game (since the xbox ultimate subscription fee. ) is included. I have tried my level best fix this issue. Win 11 is my current os. I have contacted microsoft support for gamepass The swear it not them as the dlc content is delivered with the download. Any pass through permissions from the xbox applications to the Stellaris launcher are to them is an issue with paradox. I have proof As my old laptop i was playing on the launcher shows in the menu the DLC link. this link is missing on my new system.

If this worked on your old machine but not the new one, it is clearly not a bug in our game or launcher! It is absolutely the responsibility of Xbox to get items in your Xbox account online installed on your PC, we are simply not involved in that process.
