So here is a strange idea for the game.

South America, Australia and South Africa are infected with a plague of zombies. Their goal is simple, assimilate the world into one glorious undead species to rectify the cancer of the world that is man! Sorry for being dark there.

Here are some possible features for the zombie 'nations':

  • Starts with maximum manpower pool, 40% manpower penelty (zombies can't reproduce)
  • Can only build infantry, and possibly infected for a large manpower cost, Zombie Barges, very slow transports. Easy to kill.
  • Technology gets replaced with a sort of 'evolution' tree, zombies will get better, can resist water for marine attacks and dig to get more air defence. Think what you will.
  • 'Elite' zombies are like Left 4 Dead Tanks, very high toughness, slow to build. Think of them as armoured units statistic wise.
  • Annexing nations adds 10% manpower increase per day, and lowers build time for all units by 15% making them VERY hard to wear down in the long run if left to run free.
  • Immune to attrition and weather effects, in-fact, gain bonuses in poor weather.
  • Maybe very far down the 'Evolution' line, flying units can come involved, dare I say zombie dragons for CAS like effect?
  • Maybe even 'naval zombie' creatures that have to close in very close to even attempt to fight navies, VERY far down the line. Zombie Zerg Fleet's anyone?

So we've had aliens, what about a zombie mod?

How about just 10000-20000 starting MP and a 50% mp bonus? If these zombies are virus type (infection) then they should spread much faster not slower than human growth.

I suppose yes, the manpower thing is something that can drastically alter the gameplay. I don't want them to be a pure 'gank-army' like a truly unrelenting Soviet Army. Though they may as well be!

Zombies are a pain to script, since they need their own unit type with great softness, much different AI, events for outbreaks. I remember when some of us boys tried to make a zombie mod for hoi2 and it crashed and burned due to way units were in hoi (limited number of different types) and massive slowdowns with big numbers of units, also we were too ambitious, trying to make some way for survivors to pop up from time to time.

manpower could be handled pretty easy with the new event command.

trigger:
- check if area is fully controlled by zomibes

command:
- turn area into zombie core.
- mp gain command similiar to mobilization events.
- remove mp ressource from provinces that have any in the area.

ever read "world war z" by max brooks, you should ...

Every Nation has the same Tech tree.
So you must expand the normal tech tree and give in every branch techs which can only be teched by the zomibes, like the doctrines, but more restrictive.

Someone has already begun? :)

Could this flag:

I thought about this a long time ago, but we fails in man power and scriptor to manage it.

The Idea war like, what would have been, when the Spanish flu were a Zombie Virus. The First outbreak would be in Spain the Flag would just be the Spanish one with some Bloodstains on it. The Other Countries now got the choice to carantain Spain. If not the next spots are the USA and Russia.

After a year every bigger country got its own Zombie "Race", randomly one country get the "The Big Daddy Apperas" event, the first semi intelligent Zombie, now this Zombie's can Build and Use regular infaterie in stead of militia only.

In the Next step they get intelligent in the withe mass, thy adopt a culture, and be able use vehicles.

Here we don't thought throw ..

Every nation uses the same tech tree is a problem but one that isn't hard to over come, you could do it like the Fallout mod and have one tier specially for zombies (meaning putting like infantry, armour and artillery together or removing secret weapons) and also for human nation you could put taming tech like something Umbrella Corporation would do, it's not bad enough that zombies roam the world but some people have to try and turn them into weapons and not just to fight other zombies but other human nations.
oh and one more thing cure tech ... well not "cure" but make infantry more resistant and unlock an attachment 'medical unit' which would raise attack just a bit but mainly raise strength and organization.

I think this is a great idea and could turn out to be a good mod. I myself haven't got a clue how to mod HOI2 or DH at all, but I really do hope this mod gets made. It would be interesting to see what year it's set in, and if it's in the middle of WW2 what the major nations at war would do; unite to destroy a common enemy, or fight on. If it's to be in any way realistic though, I don't think the zombies should be able to deploy any air, sea or armoured divisions, but just plenty of infantry, or a lot of militia. Possibly events could trigger as the zombies annex nations, giving more manpower, but I have no idea if it's possible to restrict what a nation can and cannot produce. I can't really see a zombie leader negotiating peace with Winston Churchill either. I look forward to seeing how this potential mod progresses.
