I just bought the Steam version of this game but I'm unable to actually play it. Every time I load it up, it goes through the standard loading process until it gets to "Loading Graphics," at which point nothing further happens. It brings up the 3D map of Europe and pans/zooms out and up and I end up staring at the map forever with nothing actually loading.

Any ideas?

What version and checksum show on the main game menu? please post your settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload).

I wasn't able to find any of those files or pieces of information. The game would get stuck at this point, so I couldn't get to the main menu to see the version or checksum. It also wasn't crashing, so I'm not sure if it would have created an error.log (working under the assumption that error.log only gets created on a crash, which I could very well be mistaken about). I've just uninstalled the game through Steam and am reinstalling now, hoping this will correct the issue (although I already tried doing this last night with no luck).

Completed the reinstall to no avail. Also figured out that reading the sticky would probably be a good idea for finding where the files are located :)

Upon finding the settings.txt, I tried changing the refresh rate from 120 (where I had set it on my initial boot of the game, the ONE time that I made it to the menu) down to 60. Fired the game back up and problem solved!

So thanks for the assistance, I think I'm all square!

(And for anyone else with a 120hz monitor, DON'T set the refresh rate in-game to 120! ;)

I found if I set it to 120hz the game will be constantly "loading graphics" but if you alt tab out and go back in it will be fine. I don't mind doing it because I'd prefer it to be 120hz but it's up to you.

Confirmed that alt-tabbing out and then back in DOES work under 120hz to get past the "Loading Graphics" hang-up. Annoying, but ultimately not all that bad. Would still be nice if we could get this addressed in an upcoming patch.

I have logged this as a bug with reasonably high priority. Whether it gets looked at by the next patch I don't know, sorry - it may depend on whether the devs have access to the appropriate hardware.

i seem to be experiencing this as well everything is fin until it gets to loding graphics screen this it just exits and closes program with no error message. i tried the 120 and alt-tab but to had no effect. i did find this in the logs file:

[provincetemplate.cpp:251]: Province 0 has invalid origin
[eu3graphicalmap.cpp:1802]: Invalid port location for province 1, center at 136,215, port location at 126.000, 277.000

Actually that's not the same problem, the other reports in this thread have the game hanging forever, not crashing. I suggest you start your own fresh thread with full system and problem info.

Those errors are normal and nothing to do with your problem.

The game is not stuck. The main Menu is loaded but the Loading UI doesn't disappear. It is a known bug, not sure if its already fixed for 1.04.

Just alt-tab out, and alt-tab back in to see the main menu. Though you might have flickering graphics, just keep alt-tabbing back out and in, till it goes away.

Alternatively, play in window mode. The overlay issue does not happen in window mode.

See the Crusader King 2 Flag in the upper left, and the Paradox Flag in the Upper Right? That means the main menu is loaded.
