I just got the game and I am still having serious problems doing simple things... It took me hours to understand how to put troops in a boat for example.. Anyways I am playing the tutorial and I got lots of colonies and everything is going pretty well...except that for some reason and I cant find a way to declare war to the "mamesomething" civilization in egypth... I tried everything and I cant find a way to declare war and crush them... What am I doing wrong? What could prevent me from starting that %$?%$ war? I got an alliance with spain who's at war with him so I thought I would automatically be at war with the egytian but it is not the case and when I go to the diplomatic screen the "declare war" function is not accessible...

Help plz cause I am running out of patience...

thx

1. In order to declare war you must have and use a Diplomat. Secondly your stability must be above -3.

2. Spain would have sent you a message asking you to join the war. It would have appeared as a small Icon on the top right of the screen.
You should go to Options and Message Settings to set messages like this to "pop up".

3. Dont run out of patience - it is well worth perservering with this game. This board is full of helpful people who dont mind answering questions. Incidently - dont label your threads as "Stupid Question" but as summat more helpful to us browsers. e.g. "War Declaration".

4. Do not continue with the tutorial too long. You will learn quicker using the Grand Campaign - play as Russia as this will give you a nice quiet start.

5. Read the excellent FAQs at:-

Thanks for the help... I will do as you guys suggested and put the war message as a pop up window... but is my current game screwed now? Do I have to start everything over in order to go to war with the Egytians or is there a way to fix things up somehow?

Thanks again for your help... You will probably see more posts from me as I progress in understanding this game... While the manual is good in explaining the background and the main game concepts, it sucks in opinion when it comes to explain how to use the interface... Just my 2 canadian cents

I would suggest that you restart as per Point 4 in my other post.
You will get a much better "feel" for the game than by using the tutorial.

Nuff said about the manual - it has been discussed before to great length! That is where the FAQs come in, that and the little "search" button at the top right of this page.

Get stuck in and when completely foxed, ask!
