Hi I'm getting the exit code 3221225501 when trying to run Vicky 3 on a brand new Surface. I know these are ARM but the emulation is supposed to be good I thought? Stellaris gets a similar error. Other games run without issue. Is there a way to set this up to run or am I waiting for native support?

The game is not supported or tested on ARM/Windows. It does run on ARM/MacOS (ie the Mx chips) via Apple's Rosetta (despite not being tested or supported, strictly speaking), so I can only guess you are right - MS's Intel CPU emulation is not as good as Apple's - yet, anyway.

And I wouldn't hold my breath for a native ARM version to come out - no Paradox game has one for Apple's ARM/Mx platform and they've been out for 4 years! I would imagine it is simply a matter of market share.

I think your best move is to report this to MS. Good luck!

Error 3221225501 translates into
Code:
0xC000001D
STATUS_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION

{EXCEPTION} Illegal Instruction An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction.
I assume here that the emulation on the Surface Pro doesn't emulate the AVX instruction extensions, which are required to run Vicky 3.

Thank you @AndrewT and @jpd! I'll keep an eye on this. Market share is surely to rise, and very fast. Just look at what all the makes are coming out with right now. It's all ARM. Native ARM support is going to be a huge selling point now that major PC makes like Microsoft have cut over completely.

By the way I was able to play Vicky 3 on this using Steam Link.

FYI Vicky 3 runs natively on ARM Macs
It runs okay, but not natively - it is still an Intel CPU app and so uses Apple's Rosetta emulation, as do all these games.

Quoting from "Victoria 3 | Open Beta 1.5.1 Changelog (Preliminary)" thread. (Thanks, forum, for not allowing me to post a link to the same forum)
