Well, at least in early years Oman can be a tough nut, especially after swallowing it's sunni neighbour Aden, putting up some colonies and doing some conquest in East Africa aswell.

I am now testing Songhai to see when it reaches certain milestones, at least for the beginning they look quite amazing.

But remember that you will face expanding Europeans very fast which is not the case in SP, more so if you go with Songhai; "Holá. Become my vassal or die." or with Oman; either "We are KoJ, convert or die." or "We are Hungery, resistance is futile, prepare to be assimilated."

Well, it is possible to annex all the surrounding natiuons in mere 20 years with Songhai, before any european can attempt it, plus do some colonising (mainly northwards), resulting in nice 21-23 provinces, most of whom have supply limit of 4 for enemies.
Couple that with L2 fortresses and you're a tough nut.
Add good DP settings (land-centered) and you have very cheap comparable level army fighting guerilla style - waiting for some attrition to occur and then attacking Levee en masse.
With the gold you have it's also not hard to keep up with europeans techwise, just need to get out of isolation penalty.

Songhai is in the Muslim techgroup, just like Oman.
That's very good and makes things a lot more optimistic..:)

Good points bin...
