Description
Asteroid Lander landing on Mars results in game crash

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1007783

Do you have Space Race installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Issue description: Returning asteroid lander causes game to crash when trying to open its door
Platform: Windows/Steam
Repro steps:
1) Open the attached save file
2) Select the returning asteroid lander in orbit
3) Land anywhere (launchpad or empty ground)
Actual behavior: The moment the lander touches down and tries to open its door, the game stutters, freezes, and crashes.
Expected behavior: The lander should be able to touch down, open its door, and unload without the game crashing.
Attached save file, image or video (optional): see below/attached

Can you replicate the issue?
This happens every time I try to land the asteroid lander in the attached save file, regardless of where I land it.

Also encountering this issue, same circumstances and game version as Balthazar.

However, additional information: I had an earlier save game so I tried and succeeded to have the lander return without crashing the game by departing early enough that it can arrive on Mars before the asteroid goes out of range.

Hypothesis: Lander contents are stored in memory associated with the asteroid. This information "container" is dropped from memory when the asteroid goes out of range. As the Lander touches down and attempts to unload, the game cannot find the content and crashes.

Have the same problem. Thanks for the temporary solution. However, my lander doesn't want to take off from the asteroid at all when I click the "Back to Mars" button. The materials on site are loaded but the lander stands still. Is it because I have 9 rare materials, but can only select either 5 or 10 as "required"? I tried it when I was 5. but the bots don't want to unload anything either.

Regarding the resources, yes, right now you can only transport them in sets of 5. Should be resolved with Monday's hotfix that changes the increment to 1.

As for it not going even when asking for less than the available resources, I find that sometimes, if you also have some RC vehicles on the asteroid and are trying to load them, the lander will only depart after giving those RCs a movement command. I don't know if that action loads it into active memory or clears a previous block for the lander, but it seems to have worked reliably for me so far.

Also related to the original game crashing bug on this thread, the game crashes even when all landers have returned before the asteroid goes out of range, but you haven't unloaded a RC Transport that was carrying resources from the asteroid. Presumably the same situation applies, in that the transport's contents are stored in memory related to the asteroid which gets dropped once it goes out of range, making the game unable to retrieve it and crashing.

I was now able to launch a lander from the asteroid before the asteroid was out of range after instructing the bot to move. Unfortunately, the lander apparently disappeared into the infinity of space, because it never arrived on Mars.
Another annoying problem is that a popup about prefabricated buildings keeps popping up. I have no idea how or when this always happens. It seems to be spontaneous and is there all of a sudden. This hides all other information that normally appears when you mouse over in the Research Tree or other objects.

In order to be loaded on a rocket, the RC's status must be exactly "idle". Not "finished loading" or "waiting a command" or any other idle-similar statuses. Only exactly "idle" will do. Usually, this can be resolved by simply moving the RC a few inches. It will be "idle" when it stops if it doesn't have a command (for example, a command to roam around looking for resources).

Sometimes the delay in launching may be due to a fraction of resources being loaded... in my case I somehow loaded 12 + 0.2 Exotic Minerals, I adjusted the loading requirement to 11 and then back to 12, then a drone went out with 1 exotic mineral and then went back in again, somehow in the process "removing" the additional fraction and allowing the rocket to launch.

I really hate fractioned resources.
