Description
Colonists get stuck on farm forever

Windows

What is your game version?

Do you have Space Race installed?
(DID NOT ANSWER QUESTION)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I've destroyed 4 farms already and I'm losing my mind. It takes a long time to get farms back to 100% fertility. The worst building to have to destroy and rebuild. It also seems to be inevitable. It just happens after a while. Once one colonist gets stuck, more will follow, untill everyone working at that building get stuck there, maybe even groceries people since food distribution buildings also stop working after a while.

There is no solution to unstuck them, except destroying the building. Reasigning the colonists does nothing.

I also have no mods.

If crop rotation matters, I always go ... whatever to bring to 100, cloven cover crops, then some fruit trees. After that Fruit trees, corn, quinoa. Same with lower tech farming. I think it only happens with huge crop yelds, like fruit trees. But I'm not sure.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes. Enough time just needs to pass. They inevitably get stuck.

They also got stuck on the ranch. Seems people want to just go into a direction, they hit the food output platform, and they just do the ant death spiral on that food platform. Seen in my save file.

While watching some random Surviving Mars video on youtube, I noticed the bug in action, but slightly differently than what I see.

At minute 11 you can see that they are stuck going to gather food. Because when he destorys the depot, ~50 colonists go home starving. I can't think of any other reason for them to go out to a platform like that.

Since I personally make at least one grocer and a diner, most my colonists get cooked food, and don't need to go to such a platform. And when the few that need to, want to go to one, they choose the indoors one. My theory is that they go even if it's empty. Nearest platform that can contain food and get stuck on it because there isn't food?

Something similar happens to drones, you can see in my video ~2 posts above, that at least ~6 drones are just dancing around the farm.

This seems to affect any food storage area, including out-of-dome food depots as well. And it can also trap drones (I've seen this at farms) and shuttles (seen at a depot).

I encountered the error too today. I saved and loaded the game and it still changed. Via Paradox-ModManager I downloaded:
- Fix Stuck Malfunctioning Drones at DroneHub
- Fix Colonists Suffocating Inside Domes
- Fix Colonists Daily Interest Loop

Not quite sure which of these three was the Solution, but at shift change (houre 6) The Stuck people and drones were free agian.

Maybe it helps someone ;-)

I was a little too fast. After they leaving (shift 1), they were Stuck again for whole shift 2 and free at the beginning at shift 3

In Addition:
I Just noticed, that the building says, there ist 1,1 Food inside, but none of the 6 depots at the farm are showing food.

Update: it seems the colonists and drones are trying to catch food from an empty storage at the building. it online occurs if there is noo food available. if there is food the get some and go.
Would mean the third mod (Fix Colonists Daily Interest Loop) would solve the problem for a shorts while, because it alters the interest from "get food at farm" to "get food somewhere else". The stuck colonists always go to a foodstore or restaurant.

That may be a decent stopgap. My problem is things spiraling out of control:

- Groceries worker while off-shift is hungry
- No food at diner / grocery
- Goes to empty food platform
- Stuck forever
- No one to work groceries during that shift
- More people hungry, more people stuck
- Less people to work food distribution
- Repeat 3-5 cycles
- Whole dome in danger

So if you have enough food distribution buildings, and periodically fire everyone in case they stuck .... maybe it could work for a while?
But a fix is desperately needed. I can't play the game like this.

No it won't work fopr a while. I just checked your idea. Not only Farm-Workers are affected. Even Childs and worker from other Buildings get stuck in my case.

Made an account just to report this bug.
Happened first on fungus farm, 20-ish drones trying to get food from farm but the storage is empty, while stockpiles a few metres apart were full.
Demolished fungus farm and built it again in the same area but not exact location, happened again. Since the grocery didnt got any food eventually 20 colonists wanted to get food from that farm and were all stuck in the same location.
Demolished fungus farm again since got enough food supply anyway.
Then in no time same thing happened in another part of the base with a different kind of farm.

Here we can see well stocked piles but all the drones try to catch food from the empty farm. Both farms have the same prio:

Like alway with Paradox, critical Bugs gets a fix in a short Time ;-)

Surviving-mars-update-1-26-patch-notes-official-sep-13-2021

  • Fixed colonists and drones getting stuck in food stockpiles. Attention: the fix requires the rebuilding of depots and food production buildings that display broken behaviour!
