Description
No Earthsick Colonists

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1011166

What DLC do you have installed?
Space Race, Green Planet, Below and Beyond, Stellaris Dome Set, Marsvision Song Contest, Colony Design Set, Project Laika, In-Dome Buildings Pack

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I want to get the 'A better planet' achievement, but I have been unable to complete the first step: ie have an earthsick colonist. Regardless of how many earthborn colonists I get to a comfort of 0, none of them become earthsick and nothing i do changes that. I even checked to see if it was only a problem for founders during the founders stage, but no, the problem applies to any and all earthborn colonists.

Can you replicate the issue?
Unfortunately yes, I have tried multiple times to get it. First time was with my favorite mods (that was when I first noticed the problem). Second time was with mods disabled on a new save. The third and most recent time was after I had completely uninstalled all mods, deleted all my saves, and uninstalled and reinstalled the game for good measure. Even after all that, and my colonists still won't get earthsick.

I saw them all the time in my games, so there is certainly no game bug that prevents there being any earthsick colonists.

Maybe you are just too good at running your colonies?

From what I can see in the wiki
it is entirely based on the comfort score, 0 means earthsickness - except for Martian-born or Refugees, who can never become earthsick.

Does that help?

I am afraid that your advice does not help at all. As I have already stated, for reasons unknown, no earthborn non-refugee colonists get earthsick from having a comfort score of 0 for me. While I am normally (as you put it) 'too good at running my colonies' I intentionally sabotaged my my colonies for my attempts at getting the 'A better Planet' achievement. Please look at the save file I have uploaded above and read the full description I have posted above for further information.

The only thing I see in that colony that could conceivably cause this is the Rapid Sleep breakthrough, but it is only supposed to affect sanity, not comfort as such.

That aside, I see no reason why this is affecting you. I haven't seen or found any other such reports, either here, in Steam or on Reddit. Indeed the comments are mostly the other way - how can I cure them!

I'm really not sure what to suggest. If you have access to any other computer, can you start a test colony on that? This is to confirm the problem is confined to this one machine.

Update: As per your suggestion, I found a computer that the owner of which let me borrow for a test. The owner is also a steam user, so it was a simple matter of temporarily switching the user account to download and install the game. I also took the liberty of only installing the base game (no DLC's) for good measure. Unfortunately, I still had the exact same problem with not getting any earthsick colonists even though there comfort has hit 0. Please take a look at this new save file from playing on the other computer.
At this point, I wonder if I have to 'cheat' for the 'a better planet' achievement by asking another player to create a temp save game, get it to a point where there is an earthsick colonist(s), then upload it here so I can download and play it.

Have you always chosen International Mars Mission for your sponsor? Because one of its effects is that colonists never get earthsick!

OOOHHHHH!!!! Its the sponsor!!! Thanks for pointing that out to me! Yes, I always play as the International Mars Mission. Guess I should play as something else. PS: I suddenly feel so stupid for not having see it!
