Description
Salvage Of Buildings Results In Crash - Win7 x64
Windows
GoG
What is your game version?
227,831
Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Saved game loads properly. (Attached in archive.)
Salvaging one of the drone hubs visible upon loading will cause the game to crash.
(Sometimes salvaging two buildings is required to cause the crash, though other weird things can happen in those cases.)
Upon encountering the crash, I did some testing to see if I could find any specifics.
I found that the game doesn't always dump a crash log.
My first two tests resulted in no crash dump, but log files were created.
The third test resulted in a crash dump, but no log file.
All are attached in the archive.
System Specifications:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
(Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601)
Dell Optiplex 7010 Mainboard Chipset
BIOS updated to Dell Inc. A25 (Released 10/05/2017)
Onboard graphics disabled; dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST added
x64 Architecture 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.401 GHz, 4 Cores, 8 Threads
8GB physical RAM; 6.77 usable
Total Virtual memory available; 16.9
Small system page file on OS HDD; 1000MB (reserved) to 6000MB (maximum)
Mild system page file on secondary HDD; 10000MB (reserved) to 14000MB (maximum)
Surviving Mars installed on a partition of tertiary HDD.
No OS Event Log entries at or near time of crash.
No HDD errors detected on OS or Surviving Mars installation HDD. (Scan Disk used.)
No RAM errors detected. (Windows Memory Diagnostic used.)
Issue is not present in new colonies.
Reinstalling Surviving Mars from the GOG installer (verified) does not change anything.
Attached archive created using WinRAR.
Attached archive is a ZIP archive set to "store" mode; no compression.
Contains 5 files:
Saved game.
Log file created after crash 1.
Log file created after crash 2.
Crash log created after crash 3.
Crash dump created after crash 3.
Apologies for the long delay in getting the report to you; no internet access where I live or near where I live.
Can you replicate the issue?
Loading the attached saved game and salvaging the drone printers causes a crash.
Addendum: Issue somewhat resolved when loading save in GOG 228,184 build.
Buildings can now be salvaged without the game crashing.
New (related?) issue: Graphical display of salvaged buildings remains the "normal" pre-salvage model.
Full demolition removes building properly now.
Successful avoidance of crash.
No useful log data created during tests with the 228,184 build.
(No data beyond that created from just running the game and loading any saved game.)
