after a while of playing i eventualy get to a point where id like to save and pick up where i left off . i do use a few mods so i have not tested this b4 mods .

Once i load into any of my different games ill see a empty colony with no survivors no resources and thus the game is unplayable and i have to Start Anew , This has been my only deterrent thus far in continuing to play the game

Hi @Cyrus1469.

First of all thank you for attaching the save file and the output log here already, they really do help us investigate these sort of issues. In this case the mods are most likely causing this issue, especially if you have any older ones installed. As the game is currently in Early Access we push out updates regularly and the mods need to always be updated with them but unfortunately this is not possible for all modders to do - this then leads to issues with save & loading. I would recommend removing all mods, then starting a new game and testing if the issue happens again. If it still happens with all mods removed, please do let us know and attach a new save file and output log here and we'll take a closer look at exactly what is happening!

Thanks for playing the game, I hope you enjoy it! :)

I get a similar bug, after loading the save the game enters a time loop with no progression at all, even at max speed. The people are there, but they are stuck and nothing happens. I don't use any mods.
For me, the solution is to close the game and restart it for the save to work.

Awesome, I just ran into that issue (time being frozen, workers running in place) and restarting the game and got it to work again.

If you have these issues without using mods, could you please attach the save file and output log as well? That way we can try to solve the problem permanently. They can be found in
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Iceflake Studios\Surviving the Aftermath\output_log.txt
Documents\Paradox Interactive\Surviving the Aftermath\SaveGames
Thanks!

I just had this problem crop up on me but with the added caveat that I cannot exit out without force-closing the game, therefor I cannot use the "restart the game" workaround. The game hangs in the load screen. So this play through is toast. Here are the docs, hope it helps. I enjoy the game and am looking forward to more development progression because there is still some pretty crippling bugs (I'm looking at you gate supply). But please keep up the good work!

Hi @GalacticBat! Just making sure: you didn't have any mods installed? What comes to the Gate: the Gate is a storage itself, so the resources on the ground belong to that storage, and they are used from there. So the resources are not supposed to be moved anywhere else. The graphics are a bit misleading at the moment though.

Hello @Laura_ifs . No mods installed or running at the time.
In regards to the gate, I'm more concerned that once all the slots fill up in the gate that new items seem to be lost. Such as new materials coming in from specialists or more importantly, trade items, since these are presumably items important to the colony or you wouldn't pursue them. I could be wrong I suppose, but it appeared I was losing anything that arrived after all the slots were full. Maybe those items were in the pile of goods on the ground, but it didn't appear to be there. After doing a search for gate storage issues, I saw a lot of posts about similar issues here and on reddit.

Is that a bug ??? or intention ???

I tried not to build a gate :) From day 60 traders come, because there is no gate this is in my settlement and trade is possible, once bandits came, these stands also mittens in the settlement, demands were made, but there was no attack, they simply disappeared again.

I've had the same issue with people not doing anything, getting stuck where they are, unlike creatures, wich can kill them. I have observed a few people doing their job, but most of the colony is stuck. I have no mod at all installed.

Same thing. No people no resources. Use mods. Is this cause of mods?

I too am experiencing the issue where loading my game results in colonists running on the spot and specialists also unable to move.

I can confirm I have no mods running and I have never had mods installed for the game

Sorry to necro the thread, but I have this exact issue :( Two days in a row now, I can't load my older save files as there's 0 colonists and no paths. The only way to shut the game is Alt+F4. Had this yesterday, had to abandon my awesome save game and started a new playthrough. Yesterday's new game is corrupt this morning.

Playing on Steam. Not sure if it makes any difference, but I first played through shared Steam library from a friend who had the DLC as well. Later bought the game myself, so I'm now playing without the DLC - and obviously started new playthroughs after that.

No mods used, no local gremlins that like to destroy savegames overnight.

Please don't re-open old threads. The game has changed hugely in the last 10 months, your issue is probably from a different cause.

Are you opening a save from a pre-release patch under the release version?

Sorry, new to the forums and didn't know the correct "protocol". I'm playing newly made saves under the current version. Husband found a workaround though - delete the savegames data on my PC and have Steam reload them from the cloud.

Should I make a new thread for this with the savegames?

I suppose, although I'm having a hard time understanding what's happened here!

Same problem
