Hello noble men of the support forum!
I have heard rumours and stories about your neverending glory and knowledge and so I have come here today with a problem.

I have recently set up me computer new, and the first game I installed was-of course- Eu2. But then, to my shock, I discovered that it doesn´t run! I mean I had problems before, but this time it doesn´t even get to the intro, I don´t think it even checks for a CD (no error message when not in the drive).

My system:

AMD-2 laptop
550 MHz
88 MB RAM (yes, that´s right...:p)
a 3-D chip (don´t ask me... )
Windows 98 Me

I have tried reinstalling, applying the 1.05 patch, adjusting my system settings, but with no luck.

Thus I come before you to humbly ask your assistance, for that I may once more set out to conquer Europe and those lands far, far away....

Thank you, noble sirs.

Sincerly,

what is the version you have? US, UK, German, other?

Well, I am having a very similiar problem as well... However on a very different system. I recently re-installed the game (had to revert back to factory specs awhile ago) and of course, DL'd the 1.05 NA patch as well. The game doesn't seem to even check for the CD, either.

Yes, insight on this prblem would be appreciated. :)

Thank you.

I think that the problem is the Bink Video player.

if you rename the AVI folder to AVI_OLD, does it work now?

If not, you'll have to e-mail SF and ask them for help as you have a copy protection problem. Give them the link to this thread, so it will be faster. They'll send you patch for this.

you know, I had the same problem once, I installed EU2 and applied the 1.05 Pactch immediatly after that and the game didnt run. I found the answer to that. IF that happens Uninstall it, then reinstall the Game then download like and earlier patch (e.g. 1.02) then go install 1.05 and it should work

weird solution... if it works, so much the better, though :)

This happened me and paradox sent me a special .exe file to fix it, although first I had to fax them my reciept. I think it can also be a problem with the CD drive, although what it is I couldn't tell you. In any case, I had to reformat my HD and reinstall the game, and now it doesn't work. But this helps :) So, once I'm done with my massive amounts of homework I'll do the whole patching thing.

joys.
