Thank you for the update. Love Karling restorations. Like crown authority better than Conclave many laws.
No matter when you read this...France seemed to be on the brink of another civil war.
Lol, he even got the nickname 'the Tyrant' in my game, seems very appropriateKing Raymond 'Once Again' is once again the FAKE King of the Francs. Thanks for updating
Unhappily Ever AfterIn a desperate attempt she ordered an assassination of her husband. After it failed and Guilhem discovered it he ordered her arrest. She was quick and escaped Rouen, months later Guilhem found out she went to the court of a relative in Brabant, in the Holy Roman Empire. She would probably never see her sons again, and their marriage existed only in paper.
I wasn´t really expecting this murder attempt, it just came out of nowhereUnhappily Ever After
I guess it´s a very realistic depiction of the time, there was always civil war in the duchies and counties, maybe not so much in France itself because the Capetians eventually took control, but I guess in this timeline it would be a mess with the constant back and fourth between different dynasties.France is struggling with instability on multiple levels, apparently.
He is quite optimistic (or stupid) if he thinks all kings will resign without a war as Raymond did...Guilhem barely held onto France, but was already thinking about Spain and Burgundy.
Wow - that was a super bleak openinghe simply died of neglect
Well, the sinners are much more funGuilhem has decided that he'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, it appears.
People can be wreckless when they believe God is on their sideHe is quite optimistic (or stupid) if he thinks all kings will resign without a war as Raymond did...
Very true. I´m still shocked at how Raymond simply gave himself to the vultures, he could genuinely drag a civil war for a few years and with luck bring it to a drawAn early winning war brings a pack of jackals following you to feast on the carcasses of your enemies, an early losing war brings a flock of vultures circling your head to feast on your carcass. Thanks for the update
I imagine that this back and fourth certainly doesn´t impose a lot of respect on other countriesFrance is just a complete mess, partly of Carolingian making. Now to see if they can build rather than break![]()
I think the Capetians left a big power vacuum in France, that´s good for the Carolingians in the short term but also good for any ambitious vassalThe Carolingians have been restored and France has finally her true king. Now, the hardest task begins, to hold onto it.
Definetely, I was doing my best not to kill the child and then he simply died in Raymond´s care. I genuinely got annoyedWow - that was a super bleak opening
Great work though - I love restoration AARs. I'm interested to see where this goes.
He is very ambitious, I think he wishes the power more than anyone in FranceGuilhem has the crown, but I think he'll find it's more trouble than it's worth. The instability will continue.
