I have played EU II many times, after installing 1.05 Nordic the clock sometimes stops I can give orders but the clock never starts working again.

The first time this happend was 1531 in my GC. If I leave EU II and start the GC again with the last autosave it will run perhaps for 5-10 years then the same happends again.

Windows 98. P III 450 MHz. 256 MB ram. 4,82 GB free disc space.

If I do ctrl+alt+del and close EU II. I recive a message EU II has made a critical error and the following information.

do you have the latest drivers for your Intel motherboard? As well as the latest BIOS?

imho, it is an hardware problem, possibly your memory...

I got the problem with a rather similar PC configuration. I couldn't make a workaround within the game (sometimes the clock continued when I declared war, but usually it freezed at exactly the same date).

Did anybody else experience this problem or is it just a "minority" issue?

I played arround with it and I could manage to achieve a clock stop again as Portugal with a big colonial empire (I used some montezumas and pocahontas to speed up the whole process, it's a save game which does not move further after loading and even going back to the autosaves or older saves will stop the game after a month or so).

My configuration is:

PII 450, 256 MB RAM, SB-Live, 8 MB ATI Rage II Videocard, 20 GB free HD.

It could have something to do with the processor speed.

Viper, can I send you the save game so you could check if it is working for you?

I know I am only talking to myself in this thread, but either way;)

There seems to be something wrong with the merchants. When I remove most of them from the COTs in the save file, I can continue playing. So this seems to be an option for you buj.

rhâaa I hate this forum  your other post never registered as new here, so I thought it was still the one of the 25-06

Send me your save game to viper37@sympatico.ca and I'll take a look sometimes this week :)

Johan has diagnosed and fixed this problem for next release. It was caused by sending infinite merchants in certain circumstances. There is an way to edit savegame to avoid this... Go through and increase the tradetech on anyone below tradetech 3.

Hm. This is happening to me every 4-5 years as well. Editing everyone's trade tech to 3 didn't help - deleting almost all merchants in the CoTs did. Then 4-5 years later it'll stop again (usually in February, or September 2nd).

Don't tell me I need to edit everyone's tech to 4. It'd make me look really stupid :D

you could try upgrading them to trade tech 4, it might be working, though as I understand it, I really thought it was 3...

should be fixed in 1.06.

yep, happens to me too,
thanks for your quick reply in another thread Faldrath.

I think ver. 1.06 is the best solution here, but I like to share antother unortodox solution with u. When the clock has frosen; declare war on someone. That has worked 3 times for me now. Then u can play the war or save and edit the savefile.

I'll run this new info past Johan. Thx.
