4.0 came out and everyone is waiting for the patches to make it “good”. And EVERYONE has opinions on what the best changes are. So I’ll chime in.

This NEEDS to happen, or Stellaris just isn’t playable… drum roll please…

URANUS AND NEPTUNE ARE NOT GAS GAINTS! They are Ice Giants. I’ll die on this hill lol

Ok that is all.

Are you denying the existence of gas in URANUS, or are you just telling us that URANUS is a very cold place?

You aren't wrong.

But in this game a ring world segment can generate more energy than a star so science isn't its strong suit.
Well, that ring segment can “capture” more energy than a Dyson sphere can. Which is easier to believe. But point taken. Real world numbers aren’t really a thing. A Neutron Star IRL is only like 20 Kilometers in diameter. Yet they are shown similar in size to Main Sequence Stars.

Unironically, I'd like to see this.

Splitting cold giants and hot giants into their own planet types would be good flavor.

It'd be neat if non-habitable planet types received a flavor pass someday after the current fires are put out.

Well, we’ll just not talk about what happens when anything with mass goes the speed of light.
Not a problem it cant! GR doesn't bother me. I even accept most QM stuff after lots and lots of puzzling around it. I just never knew the actual size of a freaking neutron star was so damn small. Logically yea it makes sense. But like holy hell have I never thought about a neutron star and went yea could comfortable drive***** all the way around it in an afternoon that is fucking mind blowing.

*****you know ignoring the being vaporized and ripped apart issue

What are some other pedantic nitpicks that the devs absolutely MUST prioritise over stability or bugfix improvements? (how can I play this game when it's breaking my immersion? urgh)

Personally, I hate the binary and trinary systems where each star has its own centre of gravity and planetary orbitals. Highly improbable imo. If they were far enough apart, they would be too far to travel between at sublight speed.

Also the density is insane. I no longer remember the exact comparison, but a teaspoon of neutron star has more mass than a small celestial body (small moon, large asteroid). Essentially a neutron star is what you get when you don't have quite enough mass to get a black hole.

lol the magnetic field of a neutron star will literally Ctl-Alt-Del your nervous system, from light years away. The vaporization happens much later.

they are collapsed cores of larger stars that have gone supernova.

They are like the exposed dead core of a nuclear reactor.

Edit: but yes stars that have the potential to form black holes, but fail to, often form neutron stars.

IMHO the most moronic thing is in Cosmogenesis you get the power to round down Pi to 3.0 as a minor change - this is utter nonsense as Pi is a mathematical constant (it defines the shapes of circles, spheres etc.) and cannot be changed. A much better choice would have been to change the hyperfine constant fromm 1/137.03599913 to 1/137.

That is where I lost all faith in the devs.

The star failed, but it still gets a constellation prize.

The loading cursor. No contest.

For the unaware, the loading cursor with two planets orbiting a star is wrong: the outer planet should not be moving faster than the inner planet.
