I thought i'd post a thread on Lord Ederon's idea of a co-op game with the Pass the Save AAR guys. Post here if you're interested in the idea, I wouldn't like to suggest any parameters as A) It's Mr G.42's pass the save idea and Ederon's co-operative idea

I'll elaborate a bit so those, who have no idea what original "Pass the Save" is about. BTW here is link to Mr.G 24's AAR thread.

Original Pass the Save was UK after action report with one difference compared to other AARs. It was played one year by one player, then passed to another player in row. From 1st Sep 1939 to 30th Aug 1940 it was played by Mr.G 24, then Amona took it and played till 30th Aug 1941, after him Evans played to 30th Aug 1942, next year was played by me (till 30th Aug 1943) and last in row was Evil Capitalist, who ended in 30th Aug 1944. So far it is the end because there is no player to take it over. Also, each player wrote AARs about his game.

This one, based on Hearts of Iron 2, would be something different (although there might be another SP-style "Pass the Save" AAR). Idea is to play cooperative multiplayer game as one country (UK if we want to build on original concept, but this is still open) and then write AAR about it. So it'd be more "Share the Game" or "Share the Save", but it is still about more players playing the same country and writing AAR about it.

For this concept, two players are minimum. If we are more, unless there is some technical problem (connection speed of host or restriction to max. # of players who can share one country), it'd be only good. It can also work many ways. One possibility is to divide theaters among players, second to divide responsibilities for different aread (warfare, production, research, diplomacy, etc.). Possibly combination of these two.

This is everything so far. Once we know interest we might start making it more concrete. :)

I definitely have interest! What information from interested people? I have to fix my profilee, i kinda forgot my name and password when i left hoi. Glad to be back for Hoi2!! specailly with such interesting ideas. Woldn't mind being any part of an the ideas (a war front, or a certain sector of the countries development) Almost 100% trained in HOI2 jstu getting used to a few of the new features.... Maybe we can get a group to play a small scneario and everyone controls only one unit (I sooo call tanks)
Really count me in! sounds uber exciting!

Thanks for the elaboration Lord Ederon, I only really wanted to put a pleaceholder thread and get it started... I'm doubting Pass The Save will come to fruition.

I'd suggest we try a battle scenario to get things ironed out, we can use it as a preliminary part of the AAR, perhaps the Spanish Civil War would suit? If I may suggest something... I have two basics ideas I've thought of.

1) To keep with the Pass The Save theme, we could have a President/Prime Minister/Fuhrer character whose role is taken over by a player in yearly terms, max. 1 term like we used to have. The other characters could then play the roles of other ministers in the cabinet or whatever on a revolving basis perhaps? Depending on numbers we could have, for example as Germany. The Fuhrer, Army Group North Commander, Army Group South Commander etc etc and after a year everyone "shifts round" to the next job in the cycle?

2) We take on permanent roles as characters and present our contributions to the AAR as diary entires of that person. I think this idea would be particularly cool as we could really develope the characters in an almost role-play situation.

Although of course, I'm open to suggestions, my current favour lies with option #2

I like #2, as it'd be more atmospheric. If there is somebody in role of President/Head od State/Government and others disloke his policy, he can be banned or assigned position lower in hierarchy. :D

And idea of some trial game, like battlescenario or short campaign, is very good indeed. Maybe we can start to think about it already to get as much issues resolved as soon as possible. New players can always jump in.

Well either way i wouldn't mind trying #2 at some point, so I'll probably organise one after this is done with if you chose an alternate route, so don't feel we have to do it that way... I just think it'd be amazing :D

If we play Spanish Civil War we'd obviously have a nice chance to see how "factions" might vye for power as both sides were coalitions. E.g. Anarchist, Communist, Republicans vs. Military Types, Church and Big Business. By that I'm alluding to getting rid of the leader. We could do it in an AAR/RPG style but actually just initiate a vote of no confidence on a simple majority?

I like the RPG way. For this AAR we will be using HoIs co-op?

Either way I'am in.

About the Pass the Save, I will be writing an ending for the AAR over the weekend.

Who would be the head of state?

 I have like 700k DSL broadband.. We could try it? *shrug*
If it means you have 700k upload speed, then we have one more thing solved :)

For those who are interesed, I recommend following times:
Wednesday or Thursday 18 - 23 GMT or
Sunday afternoon somewhere between 16 - 23 GMT

We'd play with 1.1 version.

This times are what I'm able to attend. If u have some alternatives, we can talk about it.

I have no idea about upload speed though... Wednesday evenings is work evening between 17:00-20:00 GMT so not worth it then, Tuesday would be great for me though.
Ehm, sorry. It should have been thursday, not tuesday. :eek:o

We should decide what are we going to play. 1936 or 1939? What country?

I'd suggest 1936 and Germany. This way we can plot plans to conquer Europe and do not do it necessarily historical way. Do it our way. One could be fuhrer responsible for diplomacy, production and all this stuff while others be commanders of army, navy and airforce.
