The Second Sino-Japanese War
The Second Sino-Japanese War began on July 7, 1937, starting with the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
The War would end in a complete defeat for the Nationalist Government of China, betrayed by the outermost warlords, in secret deals with Japan, an army that exhausted by warring with the Mao's Communists in Shaanxi, collapsed, government corruption widespread.
The more powerful, Imperial Japanese Army, supported by collaborationist forces of Manchukuo, and other puppet governments under the control of Japan quickly took over Nationalist territory.
By the mid-point of 1938, China was completely under the control of Japan's military occupation forces.
A New China - A New Ally. Or Is It?
On January 1, 1939, the Republic of China was declared independent and established throughout Mainland China, excluding areas reserved by Japan for Defensive purposes. Soon after, China was accepted into the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. The New Government is now led by Wang Jingwei as President and Wang Kemin as Vice-President.
Germany expands into the South
On March 6, 1938, Germany forcibly invaded and annexed Austria, and the Munich Agreement, sealed Czechoslovakia fate. By March 18, 1939, the Czech part of the country was annexed into the Greater German Reich. The Slovakian part was ceded to Hungary, in return for an alliance.
(Ahem, If this MP game goes post-war, consider this a warning sign, Japan player.
