Tips on modifications

What mods do you use and why? Which would you recommend to a relatively new player?

I'm currently thinking about using DVIP + DVIP Addon + Gratinus Facemood + Gratinus CoA + SMACK Events. Anyone know if these are compatible? Any other mod you guys recommend? Would appreciate responses.

Those mods are compatible, though since both DVIP and SMACK add mods you will have to manually combine the config/modtext.csv-files of both mods. Since else you miss the event-texts of one of the mods.

Veld and Jordarkelf both put together such excellent mods that I played both for awhile. Now I play my own mix of the two, combining my own scenario edits with some of the setup and events from both.

I was trying to use the "CK Family Tree Maker" since I wanted to map my growing dynasty, however, the result was total confusion.( http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=379220)

Character ID number, Character Type number, how does one find these? I tried searching the forums for ways of entering different files to get these values, alas, it lead to even more confusion. Any help on this matter would be grand.
