Hello,
It says in the description / tooltip of Trading Posts that if you build a TP in a colony you'll be able to use the resources in that colony. Thing is after building several in an 1861 game as Romania, no resources are being added to my stockpile. Is this WaD or buggy? If WaD, what's the point if building more than 1 TP in a colony?

Cheers,

I doubt it works as intended. I've never seen a bonus from a TP.
Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out if it's a bug or if they dropped TP bonuses from the game design, which would reduce the desirability of ever building TPs, as missions cost the same and reduce the chances of a native uprising.

I have yet to see a native uprising in 1.03. Could it be that some aspects of colonial claims have been disabled until proven satisfactory?

I have had exactly one. A TP in Buea was burned 2 days after I took it from the OE who had built it originally. Needless to say I was quite surprised.

You only get a very little of the resources with a TP, and you must have a convoy to move it to your country.

How little is very little?

B/ I'm certain nothing was being added to my stockpile, not even (.01). Could it be less than this amount? I checked the convoys, and I had 100% efficiency. I was playing Romania (1861) in 1.03, Wilhem II's industrialism mod, plus some modding of POP needs. Romania has no timber or Iron. So I built 3 TPs in the colony to the east of France's Central African colony (don't remmeber the name, I'm at work and can't check it out). After the TPs we're finished, no resources we're being added to my stockpile. I set all my trade to buy > 0 so I wouldn't make a mistake b/n a trade on the WM and my own production. I still have the savegame, and tonight I will double check and see if perhaps closing all my factories will then show an addition to the stockpile.

You still have to buy the goods on the world market. And with a trading post you can allways buy it, even if you dont have the prestige.

Can anyone else confirm this? b/ I don't recall this ever happening.

My understanding is that TP's are supposed to provide you with a very small fraction of the available resources. However - I have yet to see such a resource flow and like others I have never seen a native uprising after version 1.01.

The short answer is that colonisation is not working right.

My speculation on the TP is that there is a rounding problem going on here. I'm guessing that the the fraction of the TP resouce base that is provided actually gets rounded down to 0 in the calcs somewhere but I have no proof of this.

Will pester Johan now he's back.

Can it have something to do with convoys not running to and from colony provinces with a trade post in them?

At least I haven't seen one in my current GC where I was trying out various aspects related to colonisation. Once a colony was claimed and converted to a state, a convoy automatically appears to that entire state in the convoy overview, but until that time no convoys are present to individual provinces with a trade post.

After all, the descriptive text for trade posts clearly states you don't get the resources unless you setup a convoy for them. Well, I haven't found a way to manually setup a convoy, and the game engine doesn't provide one automatically.

Interesting point, jpd.

Derek: Any official Feedback?

cheers,

I've never seen trading posts produce anything. After all, they don't have pops that can be assigned to production- the pops only become assignable to RGOs after they become colonies.
