Was updating the character traits list from the faq and noticed that proven dealbreaker has dip +2. Shouldn´t that be -2 ?

It´s +2 in the traits file in db, not char faq btw.

That's a bug in the FAQ. Proven Dealbreaker has always been +2 Diplomacy, like it should.

EDIT: Err, where did you see that it should be -2?

Isn´t that kinda crazy ? People know ur a goddamn lier, ur a PROVEN dealbreaker ! And that helps u with the diplomacy why ? Sure it works nicely if u only have one deal but what about the deals after that ? Everybody knows u break deals but they don´t give a shit ? Thats like me being a proven lier but does people distrust me ? No ! They lend me money, let me sleep over at their girlfriends. It just doesn´t make sense !

I didn´t see it anywhere, I just thought it natural!

Dictionary.com has this for "deal breaker":

"any issue or factor that is significant enough to terminate a negotiation, esp. in business or politics"

So I presume the word's meaning is different from what it first looks like. In any case, if there is a bug, it's the name, not the values. "Proven_dealbreaker" is level 2 diplomatic education. Level 2 educations give +2 bonus to their relevant stat and sometimes a +1 to a secondary stat.

It's "Gruff Diplomat" in the game already. It's only proven_dealbreaker in reference and scenario files that use the tag names of traits.

Oki... I understand that it shouldn´t be -2 cause it´s something positive (edu) but I still think the name is misleading but if it´s gruff diplo ingame why not change it to that in the traits file also ?

Because it's easy change to make it appear as "Gruff Diplomat" in the game, requiring editing one entry in one file. Changing the tag however requires exe-change and editing every single occurance of it in the game files, including all three scenarios, plenty of event files etc.

Deal Breaker

I think a misunderstanding of what a Dealbreaker is. It does not mean, someone who literally breaks deals. A dealbreaker is, in common terms something that is absolutelly neccessary for a deal to happen, if it is not there then the deal doesn't happen.

Example: I want to buy a horse and you want to sell me one. However I only have $100.00 for both horse and saddle. If you are not willing to throw in a saddle along with the horse, then the price of the saddle becomes a dealbreaker. Without it, there is no deal.

So a person who is a Proven Dealbreaker, is a diplomat who's skills are so good that they are needed, otherwise the deal would probably fall through.

So, a Proven Dealbreaker, is a good name for +2 diplomacy. Its just a misunderstanding as to what a dealbreaker is.
