Translation of EU - please help

I would really like my italian friends to play EU.
The problem is I have only ignorant friends: they don't know english language

My question is: I found the file TEXT.CSV - If I translate all the text written in this file the game is completely translated?
I mean, no probs to change that file ?

I (partially) translated the text file from German to English. You could translate it from English to Italian, this should get almost all of the text in the entire game and it doesn't cause any problems with gameplay. However, it might take a lot of work.

Yes, it's a daunting task, but I have another doubt:
If a new patch changes that file... should I re-do all the translation?

If you do the modifications with the 1.07C patch your safe for a while. Just make shure to backup the file as new patches include all old fixes too and thus might possibly overwrite you file.

In the future however, if there is a patch that updates the file, you could be forced to reenter all the dats. However it is probably an option to in that case to change your old file and incorperate the changes manually (which should be possible since it's just a text file).

IOW, go ahead with that translation.

However don't spread it too more then your closest friends, becurse if it gets wide spread, chances that Paradox can strike a good deal to publish it in that language will be severly reduced.
