I'm trying to setup a multiplayer game with my brother. Any help would be appreciated.
First we tried valkrieynet. We each took turns trying to host a game. It didn't work. The error message was always: different version (or something along those lines). I was on the phone with him and we were both running the same version: 1.3a(jcqa--something). So then we both checked to make sure our options were the same but that didn't matter.
Then we tried to host on the internet. We found our respective "WAN IP" addrresses but again, no matter who was attempting to host, the other person could not connect.
(error message: could not find game)
He is not on a router, but I am. I followed the instructions for setting up a static IP and portforwarding with my router, a belkin FSD6231-4, but when I try to "apply changes" after entering the numbers nothing gets saved. I logout and then log back in and the virtual networks is a blank slate again.
Windows firewalls is down.
I convinced him to buy this game by promising that we could do multiplayer (he lives 3000 miles away from me). I'm not that computer savvy but I can follow directions. However, all the info, either from the game or belkin, is low quality. I'd be grateful for any help.
