I was watching the breakup of the United States of Central America.
One rebel corp had just liberated the southern province of Costa Rica, and then marched north to assist another rebel corp. About 5 days after it got there the province fell, and Costa Rica gained independance.

Now both these corps became Costa Rican, but for some reason they fought each other for a few days until the weaker one was destroyed.

They may be fighting because they started as rebels with different politics. But that's just a guess.
