Hey all, i have been playing MP with my mate for a year now and over hte last two days we haven''t managed to connect. I have checked the communication between our pcs using the ping command in dos promt and there are no firewalls in the way.

We both recently tried the 1.3b patch which we think is causing the problem, so we uninstalled and reinstalled, however when we go to install the new patch after a re-install it claims we have the patch installed even tho we have removed it. Could this be the problem?

Are there any other things that maybe causing the problem? I tend to think it is my end because he is able to join over peoples hoi2 mp games but i am not. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you need to manually delete HOI2 from your program directory then do a reinstall. Just delete the HOI2 game folder and you should be fine. As for soem reason the uninstall doesnt work properly, it leaves parts of itself in the program registry and the patches arent scrubbed with the rest of the game. You must have compatiable checksums to be able to connect to each other, to fnd this out on the game screen where you have the Single Player, multiplayer, Tutorial, Credits, Exit buttons in the top right hand corner will be 4 letters. Your friends letters must match yours, if they dont one of you has modded files or has a different patch.

If that doesnt work then it might be a router/firewall problem but it is most likely to be a version difference.
