Hi All,

I'm have trouble in my game a Russia invading the Portugese island - Azores.

I'm currently at war with Portugal but when I try to unload my ships by slecting unload and moving the hand cursor over the island (the cursor changes to include a picture of the person walking), when I right click a small red cross appears.

I've tried a stack of times with the same result????? .

Can anyone help...I'm I doing something wrong?.

Is there an advance called amphibious landing or something that I need first??.

Hope someone call answer this one.

maybe you don't have enough troop to enter the province? What's the fortress level of the province? The higher it is the more men you need if you want to enter a province.
 
Yes my thoughts exactly. I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong, but it's the first time that I've tried to invade an Island so I'm happy with the fact that I've got something wrong. I just hope one of you guys can think of something - this is the only way to get at those god dam Portugese!!.

Could this be some sort of bug?.
 
U have to actually click on the island :D

OK, this may sound very simple but there have been plenty of people on this board complaining they couldn't dock in the Azores and actually clicking on the island solved that ...

Evidently u need enough troops to enter though (don't the Azores start a sa city and usually has a level 2 fort ?)
 
OK I've now got back home and have checked.

Griffon/BiB, you were correct it is a level 2 city not a level 2 Colony, sorry to confuse you.

So I guess I need around 20K army at least?.

I have read your FAQ's (very good info too), I was refering to 20K to be able to win. With att in this game (and in history) 10K will not be 10K for long!.

On the contrary:

Asores has a base tax value of 3
Russia has a M value of 2

This means that you will be able to keep 2x3 + 2x2 = 10 units in that provinvce with 0 attrition.

Any additional will just pointlessly attrit away...
