It's not hard to run teamspeak; more challenging to whisper to specific players privately, still more challenging to participate in voice chat when playing in a library

Why does this mean that vocal communication must be required? Two people can control the same nation in many RTS games without voice comm.

Of course, I used the wrong word. What I wanted to say was that it was desireable for most of us.

Now it looks like ventrillo is the hottest alternative.

for a better connection, it is advisable for one to have the server installed and the rest to connect to him.

however, IP issues make it tricksy to run it behind a router. BUT i once tried, with fraese, using it combined to hamachi and it worked just great.

On the other hand, this opens the hamachi can of worms... with shared files and such.

Fnuco,

Do these IP issues behind a router only occur for the one who has the server installed or for both server and clients?

Hamachi must be avoided.

we were both behind routers, and both had client AND server installed. i could not connect to him and he could not connect to me without hamachi.

A matter of forwarding ports maybe?

or maybe of internal and external IP adress, dont know exactly and im not very good at this, so my guess is prolly not the best.

Skype would work, however playing MP with the games of Pdox, usually means that you need to close down right about everything else or you could crash. Atleast that is the case in CK, where you must pray everytime you play and if you are lucky you can play 30 years on one session.

Hrm, this sounds bad.

I often have IE, Outlook, ICQ, Word and sometimes even a antivirus program (scanning my entire disk) on during a game and it does not seem to create any problem. I only play EU MP, not CK.

This differs from PC to PC and from OS to OS. My PC crashes during EU2 mp if my antivirus program has a task scheduled. Other programs can run fine in the background. Others, like Lurken, are more unstable and need to close down everything.

Thinking about that : 2 persons playing the same nation will make possible the conversion of potential Eu3 players to active Eu3 players. It will make the learning curve far less tough for newcomers.

I suppose a scheme where the veteran does the critical actions or is assigned the main front and the beginner handling less critical tasks could work. For example it takes a while to learn how different MP warfare is from SP warfare, and this painful experience could become less painful if the beginner got to spectate more than issue orders.

Well, I foresee deadly combo's of a good warlord working together with a good trader/economiser :)

You wouldn't let Damo even go to war.

No... just think... Drake and I. Finally we can co-operate with each other without guilt.

ForzaA and I...

We don't even need teamspeak :D

I just don't know which one of us is the great economist and who is the warmonger ;)
