ubisoft UK-1.06 problem

After clean re-installation of the game and applying of the new 1.06 patch the game won`t start - I always get the no-cd error, even when the install-shield booted from the original cd.
I have seen in the discussion forum that someone else noted that problem already as well. Any idea what went wrong? Everything worked fine with 1.05.

Well, I solved it temporarily myself, as the German 1.06 (also ubisoft) does work with my installed UK-version as well (the only problem is the language...;)).

like Carolus said, Patric has been notified of the matter.

for the moment, only your work-around seems to be a solution :(

ah, and for the language, read my tip in the EU2 thread.

Looks like it...I'll keep tabs on it and post a link to the fix as soon as it's available.

In the interim, let's sticky this thread. :)

Temporary Fix

A temporary work-around.

1 - backup any save games, etc.

2 - download the Ubi Soft UK 1.06 patch.

3 - install the patch but do not try launching the game.

4 - go to the C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Europa Universalis 2\Config folder and make a back-up copy of the text.csv file.

5 - now follow these instructions to do a complete uninstall of the game.

6 - now do a fresh install from your CD.

7 - now download the German 1.06 version of the patch.

8 - now install the German patch which works perfectly with the English version except all the text will be in German so....

9 - now take the back-up ext.csv file you made early and put it in the C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Europa Universalis 2\Config folder (overwriting the German one with the English).

Voila! You should now be able to run 1.06 bo problem.

Note: A "proper fix" will be posted as soon as it's available.

I made the UK patch this afternnon and must've lost a file or so... My sincere apologies for that!

I will check and fix whatever went wrong tomorrow!

No probs...let us know when the fix is up and I'll unsticky this and correct the "latest" thread. In the interim Kasperus has hit upon a decent (if slightly complex) solution. :)

UK VERSION NOW CORRECTED

Patric has shattered all previous speed records and managed to get the corrected UK 1.06 patch up for you. You'll find it here. :)
