At the suggestion of someone else in my UI problems thread, I want to add things that need to be changed about the UI, which I think is a big downgrade overall from CKII.
  • The issues button is not the way that I want important things in my realm to be brought to my attention. In 2, whenever something of import happens that I may need to address, the alert moves down from the top of the screen, accompanied by a distinctive dinging sound, and most importantly, it is always visible, without needing to go into a menu to see it. If issues are hidden away inside a folder, I'm a heck of a lot less likely to notice them then if they each occupy their own positions at the top of the screen. The way it's situated currently, I would need to be obsessively checking the menu every few minutes and ignore all the issues that are lumped together with the issues that are actually of relevance. The top of the screen is underutilized, so there's no need for this sort of condensing to take place.
  • The character screen takes up too much of the screen, and despite being over twice the size of the old tab and covering up almost a third of the visible map, it conveys much the same information. I think there's a lot of work that could go into making it into a more effective and efficient use of space.
  • What have you done with all the helpful map modes? And why are some of them hidden away in debug mode? The one I'm personally missing most of all is the diplomatic relations mode, because that allowed you to see which realms and counties you had valid casus belli on, making it easy to plan future expansion. And what about the minimap itself?
  • The outliner and important ruler tabs really don't need to be all packed together in the upper right hand corner. The outliner was used in 2 for displaying all your realm stats and info at a glance, but now it's been practically strip-mined. And the ruler tabs, when open, cover that information up, along with the info on your income, piety, prestige, renown, not to mention all the notifications (we'll get to them in a second). I really don't see why the tabs can't be returned to the upper left, or the outliner moved there instead. Adding to that is that the tabs have the same problem as the character screen; they show practically the same amount of information as in two but now take up twice the space.
  • (Adding to above, a complaint I saw another player have on reddit: it isn't visually obvious what tasks your councilors have assigned. Faint gold highlight on a gold icon isn't nearly visible enough.)
  • The worst aspect of the UI, in my opinion, is the notifications system. 2 is so well organized and unintrusive, featuring different (customizable!) levels of priority for everything in the game, ranging from full centre-of-the-screen event pop-ups, to minor bullet points in the message log. But now notifications all have the same level of priority, and they don't dismiss automatically; meaning that if you don't keep manually dismissing them, then they build up on the right side of the screen and take up yet more of visible map.
