The original CD is version 1.07b NA, distributed by Blackstar. After install the game I tried to update with v1.09NA which I downloaded from this site, but upon executing the patch, the Installshield stop the program and gives me the message that EU is not installed on my computer?! But I can run and play the original CD 1.07b with no problem. Anyone have any solutions, suggestions on getting the patch program to run? Judging from the messages posted here, there seems to be a lot of problems getting this game to run properly, and I'm leaning on returning it for something else instead.

Benelux Version

The same thing happened to me. It appears that some of the EU games on ebay may be the Benelux version. I had the same difficulty with the patch (originally purchased the game on Ebay) and decided to buy the game from a local store so I knew the source. I am pleased to see the Benelux version was not a bootleg copy.

Got mine thru www.compuexpert.com, it was on sale advertised as brown box special with the printed manual and and CD only, so I was unaware that the US version was distributed by Strategy First and not by Blackstar. I also saw a big jump in E-bay auctions for this game during the same time period which I am assuming are from a large import (legal?) shipment.

I downloaded patch 1.09NA from Strategy Firts and when I boot up the game it shows in the left hand cornor BJ109. Is this the right patch for the game or do I have to try and download 1.09NA again? Are both BJ109 and 109NA the same patch and fix the same problems?

just some ideas mac

The "NA" in 1.09NA stands for "North America" version. Strategy First is the North America distributor of the game, so if the upper left hand corner of the screen said EU109, you have the latest version of the game and don't need to run that patch file.

Patric, It definitly shows in the upper left cornor the
numbers BJ109. Now I am totaly confused. I downloaded it off First Strategy's Board. Now you have me wondering if I even have the right patch or if its installed correctly... I downloaded 1.09NA from the board and it definitly says BJ109, I just checked it again...

Hmmmm are your eyes ok (only asking) or are you running some wierd font?

The reason I ask is that if you run the Letters E and U together (as in EU 1.09) then the first stroke of the "U" makes the "E" become A "B". The rest of the "U" can then be interpreted as a "J".

I think that the explanation is somewhere along those lines.... have a really good close look........ :))

UglyDuck, as far as I know, I'm not running any goofy fonts but, I'll check, maybe one of my kids re-set the font, I do wear reading glasses, (Sigh, it comes with age I guess). But I did check with & without glasses, its printed BJ109, but I'll check the fonts, never thought of that...tks

OK - I have just checked mine.
The E and the U *are* too close together. This gives the illusion of BJ!
Its not your eyes, or mine, or a weird font. Its the way it has been done.
Be assured that it is really EU 1.09

If you go into a decent word processor you might be able to recreate the effect by tweaking the spaces (kerning) between the letters.

Tks guys, I also was wondering about my eyes, after UglyDuck
reminded me on the fonts and using a magnifying glass, you are right about the letters running together, whew, I thought it was me and that I messed up somehow or I needed extremely stronger reading glasses. appreciate all the help. tks again
