Unable to save

I am unable to save the game with a new name, even though I have saved many times before (my game is now in 1956).

i can save, although only by overwriting a previous file, but whenever i try to save normally (when it puts the countries name and date), it says its saving, but when i check, there is no new file.

I have quite a large number of files, but even when I deleted dozens of the older files, i still cannot save under a new name.

any clue as to what is happening?

I have the exact same problem. Really I can't find the files, since it does seem that there is a save file somewhere.

Navigate to savefolders and click show compatibility files

Even better... uninstall Vista and install XP.

The Solution has Arrived!!

when you get to saved games and see an empty folder

press the 'Compatability Files' Option on the options bar just above the 'this folder is empty' notification. All you saved games should appear!

Also: there will be 2 copies each of your saved games, delete them both
