Hey guys. I'm unable to start EU4. When I click on the game from my steam library, my launcher starts. I click play from there. I get EU4 loading screen and then it exits and I get an error (in attached image). I reinstalled my game multiple times. Also C++ is installed and updated. I added eu4.exe as an exception to my windows defender along with a couple of other files. The issue also seems to be re-occurring. I've had it before. I followed instructions i would find online (i.e. add .exe files to allowed in my antivirus) and that would fix the problem. Then a few days later I would start receiving the same error. This time nothing I do seems to resolve the issue. Any help is appreciated!

If you run eu4.exe directly from File Explorer, does it start up then? If not is any Windows error shown?
It loads up the first loading screen and then exits out. The only thing i get from windows after that is Program Compatibility assistant asking me if the program working properly. When i say no, it starts troubleshooting compatibility issues. Gives me two options (image attached). Using recommended settings, it makes it windows 8 compatible. Asks me to test it and same thing happens where it exits out after the first loading screen. I tried running it normally and in administrator mode. I also tried eu4_profiling.exe (not sure what this file is) but same thing occurs.

This game does not need any compatibility settings set, it's developed and tested on native Windows 10 and 11.
You mention working on your AV app has helped in the past. Which one do you use? It is possible that every time a new game patch comes out, its new eu4.exe will need to be added to the AV app's exceptions lists.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

I use Windows Defended as my AV. I re-added eu4.exe to it and removed it multiple times after each reinstall. Doesn't seem to work. I attached all the docs you requested as well. The only thing, I couldn't find exceptions.log file. Also, i had 3 error.log files (error.log, error_old.log and error_old_old.log) but all 3 are empty so it won't let me upload them up here. Thanks so much for the help!
The game is crashing in your AMD video driver:
- uninstall it with this utility https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx
- reboot
- install the very latest http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- reboot again
