Yeah, undoubtedly not the first time this has been brought up, but I was hoping someone could quickly tell me how to fix this.

I got ARMA a few months ago and it wasnt ever a problem with just DD.

Locate your current savegame file and back it up (ZIP/RAR it). Open it and search for the name of the affected unit(s). Those units should have a country = line with a country tag of the country you bought this unit from. Change this tag to your country tag and they should upgrade.

Example: an air unit bought from Germany should have country = "GER" . If you are Italy then change it to country = "ITA"

Just delete the entire line of code.

Thanks for the responses.

I cant mod savegames, unfortunately. My comp cant handle it right now but I am getting a new laptop soon which should be able to. I am still not very fond of the idea of having to mod the savegame every time I buy a unit off an ally, though. :(

Is there no way to prevent the problem from arising in the first place? I dont understand why this isnt an issue in DD but is in Arma.

GAWD, people are soooooo impatient. Send your ally the tech blueprints and he will get around to upgrading it for you.
