Unnamed infant

In the 1187 scenario, 1.03, the Lusignan family of Gerusalem has latin as culture (?); all their new born children have this name:
unnamed infant.
I think it's something related with that culture.

yes, the latin culture got no name entries in character_names.csv.
That's wrong, look at the bottom of the file.

Unnamed infants in 103a

Hi,

I have noticed that there are a lot of unnamed infants in the game again.

I noticed one court where all female (5) were unnamed.

Its in patch 103a. Clean install

I've just come across this, and I thought I'd check my save file. At the moment, there are 54 unnamed infants in my game. They're all latin/female. At least 15 of them are adults, and I've only gotten to 1076.
This is with 1.03a.

I've not been able to replicate this, so I'm not sure exactly why the error occured. However, one of the Dukes in Germany had three children - two daughters (8 and 5) and a son (3). The eldest and youngest had German names, but the 5-year old was called Unnamed Infant. This was more than 5 years after the start of the game, so I don't think its an error in the initial character setup.

Seems you folks are not paying attention to threads already posted.

Merged the three "Unnamed Infant" threads.

It seems like the females who are unnamed are all of the Latin culture.

I guess they supposed the be representing the Occitan culture?

I have added frankish/norman female/male names to the latin culture, this will hopefully fix it

Maybe because the Latin names are separated into two parts in the names file, first the old list of Papal names (which should probably be deleted), and second the new Occitan name list. So the game probably just reads the first list (which has no female names) and ignores the second.

I've removed the Papal names and moved the Latin list up between Lappish and Lettigallish, and had no problems with Latin culture girls.

uh
the 1.03 introduced them?

i dont remember any latin name in 1.02 character_names.csv.
Yes.

Please do not report any 1.02 bug anymore. And only verify your assertion against 1.03a files delivered with the patch.

Thanks,

Cat

I don't have them in my name file! Where can I find some latin female name? Thanx

They should be at the end of the file IIRC.

If they are not, then you have not applied 1.03b properly.

Please re-apply it, and say "yes" whenever it asks you to replace "Read-Only" files.

Thanks,

Cat

just reinstalled 1.3b, they're there...so should I remove them from the bottom or let them there to avoid the unnamed children? thanx

If they are there, you shouldn't have unnamed infant at all. Or, it's not a problem with "latin" culture.

EDIT: In a new game, or for new infant. It won't help if they are already born as their "names" is not in your save !

Cheers,

Cat

I got this recently (1.04a NA, with either the 10/17 or 10/23 patch, not sure which). I was playing a pretty berzerko game, as England and controlled a HUGE empire (from Latvia around the edge of the continent, all of the British Isles, half of France, all of Spain, Egypt, and most of N Africa) with over 1500 courtiers. I started noticing, towards the end, that I was getting 'Unnamed Infants', mostly female. I didnt pay that much attention at the time, so I cant tell you if they were generalized, or area/culture specific, but it was a good double-handful as the game progressed. If it happens again, I'll note it and report back. Just wanted to let you know it wasnt just an earlier version problem.

LOL, since 10/23 and 10/31 seem to crash repeatedly, and the unnamed infant problem doesnt seem to pop until later on in the game, it has, in a way, been fixed :)

I don't know, I was playing just yesterday and I'm less than 30 years into a game when I notice all the girls in my court are starting to be named unnamed infant. Just girls.. I would have to check what culture their parents are, but I'm sure it's Danish like most if not all of the court.. This with 1.04a and no mods and I should probably go DL the 1.05 today, good idea, glad I thought of it.
