Crap, my bad on the time. I hate time zones :D You're right. I'll send out an email and see if we can get everyone on the same page. If we can, we can start tonight.

Haven't heard from OldHorse or Spritze, so I'll assume they are out for now. Sending an email shortly!

game

I see we didn't start today, I am in for next Tuesday the fourth, 8pm Eastern. It's a tad early in the evening for me but France shouldn't last more than a session or two I would think so I'll manage. See you in the game

Tuesday 04-OCT is a go for scenario start.

All meet on Valk just before 20:00 EDT / 19:00 CDT. Check your e-mail for game details and house rules.

If there is anyone who would like to play the last major, please let us know.

I'm interested but who is the last major?

It looks like, at the moment, that France/US and UK are up for grabs. We have one player who is willing to play one or the other. Need another to take the last slot.

I will be on Valk tonight between 8:00 and 8:30 Eastern to do a connection test for anyone interested. Jump in then if you can and we can discuss.

Id love to discuss on Valk tonight but I have to work until 11pm (central). Also is the day set on tuesdays, I usually have class on tuesdays until 8pm (Central)

Yes the day is set for Tuesday (Starts tomorrow), and the time is 7 to 10 central.

It's a little late to change everything now :) Maybe after everyone falls under the might of the Axis Powers and we start another game.

We'll post as the game progresses, and keep you in mind when we start another one.

hey guys, just in case you are checking the forum...

I got the good 'ol "sorry but HOI2 caused an error and must close" message. I've been in the chat channel waiting and no one is coming out. Please don't tell me you will let the AI run France just before the German hits me! Check the channel if you see this post.

We didn't know Spitze. Don't worry though, Germany didn't go into France last night. I will post an AAR in a bit.

AAR for 18-OCT

We started tonight on March1, 1939. Czechoslovakia decided wisely to join
with the Reich, but alas Poland refused Germany's reasonable demands. In a
defensive move, the Wehrmacht moved in to secure Poland against further
aggression. By September 15, Poland was in German hands.

While engaged on the Polish frontier, both France and Yugoslavia tried
desperately to invade sacred German soil from the West and South. Our brave boys repulsed the feeble attempts of the Franco-Slavic invaders. By
October, Guderian and Manstein were teaching the slavs a lesson about
modern warfare.

German troops, once again moving in defense, crossed the Yugoslavian
frontier. Bolstered by troops from Venezuela, Argentina, Turkey, and the
UK, the Allies once again made a feeble attempt at resisting the tighteous
troops of the Fatherland. One by one the Yugoslavian states fell until in
November Germany annexed the country. Seeing the inevitability of German
victory, Hungary joined the Axis.

Not giving the Allies any respite, Guderian's panzers crossed into Greece.
With his Panzercorps driving to Athens and Rundstedt's Infantry armies
driving on Salonika, Manstein briefly trapped a British army of 8 divisions
in western Greece. The fortified positions which the British were counting
on did nothing to slow the German advance. Luckily for Chamberlain they
slipped away by sea just hours before being annihilated. Pressing forward,
Rundstedt secured Istanbul from the Turks and began to fortify his
positions. All of Greece but Crete was in German hands.

Meanwhile in the air, the UK pressed a few attacks against German cities
only to be driven back by the Luftwaffe. In the Mediterranean, the
Kriegsmarine air arm continued to operate unopposed against Allied surface
fleets.

As winter deepened, the Soviets suddenly attacked Finland and pressed an
early advantage. Admiral Raeder continued to scout British convoy routes
without success with the Unterseebootes and the Wehrmacht began to deploy against the Franco-German border in the anticipation of more incursions.

January 1, 1940 had dawned.

[Guess who's playing Germany :D ]

AAR for 25-OCT

Date: April 19, 1940
To: Chancellor of Germany
From: Minister of Defense
Subject: Statement on the Conduct of the War

The war continues.

From January through mid-March, both Axis and Allied powers continued to conduct harrasing attacks on each others shipping, air installations, and strategic targets. With the weather being foul, not many offensive operations were conducted as each side continued to fortify their positions. On March 15, 1940 the storm broke in the West.

Balkans: Turkish forces supported by Canadian and Greek troops continued to hold the line against a German occupied Istanbul. Multiple air attacks were conducted against german railways and transportation assets while German naval bombers attempted to clear the straits with limited success.

Western Europe: On March 15, Germany declared war against Belgium and Holland. Italy immediately joined the Axis to help the Germans contain Allied aggression. German forces swept rapidly through both countries under heavy Allied air attack from the combined air forces from multiple powers. Both sides suffered moderate air casualties. By March 25, German troops had met the heavily fortified Seine-Marne river line at the gates of Paris. The Wehrmacht was nearly successful in cracking the fortifications with specialized troops in Compeigne until it was reinforced with French Infantry and British armor.

On March 29, the French attempted two counter assaults. The attack from Reims to Namur was easily repulsed while the attack from Caen to Le Harvre managed to drive out elements of Rundstedt's First army. The French only held Le Harvre briefly as German forces, now attacking in open ground, easily repulsed the Allied forces driving them back across the Seine. The French gambit of massive fortifications, river defenses, prepared positions, and bolstering from multiple Allied countries appeared to be paying off.

The front became static until on April 10, Germany moved into Switzerland to bring it into the Axis defensive line. Overconfident, the Swiss quickly moved to capture an undefended Milan from Italy. 30 Wehrmacht divisions quickly overwhelmed the remaining resisters and Germany annexed Switzerland. German infantry, panzers, and crack mountain troops now face a much smaller Allied force in Southern France.

North Atlantic: After multiple unsuccessful patrols, German U-Boats encountered a large fleet of British destroyers and carriers with many losses (3 U-Boats sunk). The remaining German U-Boat Fleets continued operating with limited success against British shipping.

Scandinavia: The Soviet Union annexed Finland outright. In response, Germany moved to secure Denmark and Norway. Denmark fell quickly. German naval bombers again began interdicting British warships this time in the seas around Denmark. In April, A large German naval force of carriers, battleships, heavy cruisers, and destroyers engaged a screening force of British destroyers off the coast of Denmark. The Germans suffered very light casualties with the entire British force sunk (10 Improved Destroyers).

North Africa: The Italians and British fought several stalemate battles on the coast of Libya. Through several weeks of fighting, the British were able to make very limited gains against Italian forces.

The war continues.

Game Notes:
Playerbase appears to have leveled out
Germany - Aelbric
USA - Konev aka Old Horse
USSR - DAVE aka FredericktheUnknown
Italy - Pax25
Japan - Estienne
UK - Still changing on a week to week basis
France - SpitzeDerKlinge (doing a fine job I might add)

hi,

i'm also interested. currently we are a 3 player group, in eastern u.s. and would like to set up a twice a week game, typically around 7:30 to 11:00, we can make and almost always make firm times.

we are a friendly group, casual and open to suggestions for house rules, especially ones that gear the game toward a more historical feel, though again open to anything as long as it makes sense.

where in the eastern U.S. are you?
