Oh I see. Lol. Valyrian it is then :D - the Seven looks a little boring. I just thought that perhaps it had something to do with being easier to obtain dragons or something. Well I just hope Westoros is ready for an inquisition.

The main appeal of the Valyrian religion is the multiple wives, which really does help in the beginning when the royal family is three people. Keeping other Valyrian houses alive is also a little easier when they can take multiple wives as well.

Actually, being Valyrian religion does make it easier to hatch dragon eggs and tame dragons -- not that the Targs need those bonuses on top of what they've already got from being both High Valyrian culture and simply Targs.

Well to be clear while you can take multiple wives they still might hate each other. Sadly there are no three or even foursomes with your wives. Could actually be handy in terms of producing heirs and spreading the love among them.

You can get threesomes with multiple wives! Although i can't remember if i encountered it in the mod or vanilla, if you have 2 homosexual wives they have a chance of getting together and triggering an event when you can either choose to scold them or join in ;)

When I played with the submod that lets you colonize Valyria I had to edit the buildings files to allow Valyrians to actually build something in their temples. The mod also allowed you to restore a Valyrian head of religion which was cool and added some flavor.

Only Maegor I kept several wives after Aegon I, if I remember correctly, and it had more to do with him being an asshole and not caring about anything the faith said that any valyrian tradition.

You're right. He was also exiled by his brother Aenys for it (who also got some flak from the high septon for marrying his daughter to his heir). In the end a civil war was fought over it, and though I can't recall ever seeing the exact terms of the agreement Jahaerys drew up with the faith it seems that the trade-off seemed to basically be "we'll only take one bride at a time as long as you leave us alone about the incest."

I would argue perhaps that instead of him doing it out of being an ass (which he was) it was more along the lines of trying to reconcile the faith with Valyrian culture. The war with the faith militant settled what was tolerable and what was not.

No, it was him being an ass. Martin himself said you can take as many wives as you want when you have dragons, I should find the quote tho'. He was so powerful he did as he pleased, it had nothing to do with culture at all, heh.

I stand corrected! I mostly had Aenys in mind as he seemed relatively benign, though upon reading a second time that is not at all what I did (hadn't had coffee yet.)

I'm not sure if it's worth fussing a lot about, but it could perhaps be tied to a law similar to first night? Before the faith militant uprising, high valyrians can do as they please at a cost to national unrest that negates the blood of old valyria, and after that bookmark they cannot, and the negative modifier is lost as well.

The whole incest thing has been corny from the start. Any ruler whatsoever should be able to do as he/she pleases with appropriate consequences. To simply disallow a character to do as they please is bad game design.

In other words, anyone should be able to breed with their sister with the appropriate consequences.
