I was purposefully exaggerating the effectiveness of Ramsay's 20 good men as I believe the effect it has on the show to be absolutely terrible writing.

I don't actually find the idea of twenty good men slipping through someone's camp and setting shit on fire to be terribly unbelievably, especially not in the context of freezing cold sentries on unfamiliar ground.

Factor in the Northerners knowing the area and been used to the snow and a guerrilla raid is believable albeit the extend of it stretching things a bit

That's why the White Walker King failed to kill Jon Snow. He only had 13 good men.

20 is the magic number, you see.

EDIT: Seriously though, the point is that Stannis, considered the best commander in Westeros (stated by multiple characters in the show, while in the books he is widely underestimated, even by Jon) commits the mistake of leaving his already dwindling supplies unprotected as if this was his first time marching into battle. The use of plot device after plot device as an excuse for characters doing the unthinkable and acting against how the show itself previously portrayed them is what pissed me the most. I mean, most theories about the battle of Winterfell have him using the frozen rivers to his advantage, and Theon's WoW chapter gives us a hint that it will probably happen. Someone who is NOT from the North use the ice and snow to his advantage says a LOT about his adaptability and knowledge of terrain... But in the show 20 good men machina can do anything, while a shirtless Ramsay double wielding swords can butcher the best killers of the Iron Islands.

Stannis might end up burning his daughter, but I assure it will take MUCH more than 20 good men to push him into doing that. People who say he would've burned Edric forget that if he really wanted to he would have tortured Davos for his location... But what did he do? He thanked his Onion Knight and left Edric alone, for he wouldn't be forced to choose anymore.

Personally I think the 20 good men modifier should be a sort of disease that gives -10000000% supply limit.

"Ser Twenty of House Goodmen has ravaged this province."

Stannis is most likely alive, Brienne spared him when he reminded her of her duty to protect Sansa Stark. I bet he has alot of work to do to replace his army lost at Winterfell, I guess now we will see him go to Deepwood Motte and other places, gaining the alleigance of some of the Northern lords to take on the Boltons.

He didn't leave them unprotected, there were sentries posted for his camp. But they were either asleep or working with the enemy (in his words), so... Anyway, that isn't unbelievable in the slightest; IRL Alexius I Kommenos stole into an enemy camp by himself and raised hell, setting shit on fire and putting arrows in anyone he could see. Plenty of guards have become more interested in staying warm than stay alert, with disastrously out-sized effect if exploited by a common enemy.

The only thing that keeps it from happening more often is that almost no one wants to do anything in the freezing cold.

Btw, after last episodes events
Tommen is the last Baratheon ? He is truly the son of Jamie but given dynasty is a social construct and everyone thinks he is a Baratheon he is the last Baratheon if both Stannis and Myrcella died (ignoring older branches).

That's exactly what I was hoping would happen - it would be a shame to miss out on Frey Pies!
