On the bottom of the disk, there is a paradox logo, it is silvery/shiny and does not appear burnt. The game plays perfect, starts ok, saves ok, and everything on this site is the same as the game I have. I noticed a small discrepency however in the BB point spread, which is why I tried to download the patch. Every thing is basically the same. I do not however see two other logos on the bottom, just paradox.

It's almost certainly not a standard NA release then because the SF version has the SF logo and Infoplay logos at the bottom of the disk as well. Do you have any way of getting in touch with the original owner to find out what country version it is?

Other possible way of finding out...are there any clues in the path or root directory?

If it is a SF version your default game path should be:

C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Europa Euniversalis 2\

If it isn't, try going to the root game directory (whatever it is) and look for anything like a html shortcut and try clicking on it to see who's web site it takes you to (if it isn't Paradox's). In the SF version it will install both a link to SF's web site and Paradox's.

Are there any other files there that might give you a clue as to who authored them?

When you run the initial intro videos using your working version of 1.00, who's logos appear?

If we can figure out what country version it is we can figure out which patch to apply. If, however, it has all the other makings of a SF version then I'd guess that someone stuck you with a pirated version and it will not be possible to patch it.
