vistaHOI2 DD crashes

hey everyone i have a problem with my HOI2 DD this is what happened:
i installed it everything went normally but when i start it it starts but when it starts to inisalize globals it crashes i get a message that says Hearts of iron 2 has stopped working so i close the program and it keeps happening
any fixes?

Some things to try, if you haven't already :

- Set your desktop resolution to 16 bit color, 1024 by 768

- try running in windowed mode : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5743306&postcount=2

- reinstall to a custom folder such as games\doomsday, not into Program Files

- run in XP compatibility mode :

Locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu.

Select the Compatibility tab:
Click the box:
Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
