This game needs some better mechanics for the War for the Dawn and fighting White Walkers. Here's what happened to me;
So I'm playing as Dany in the scenario right when she arrives at Qarth.
I went through the event chain normally, eventually becoming Queen of Mereen and all of slavers' bay. With a solid army, I invaded westeros with the proper casus belli and became Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Yay!
Thing is, the others had already started their invasion by then. Mance Rayder had defeated the Night's Watch and took the wall, but then Winter came rolling and started crawling upon the north.
At some point I lost/dismissed my Unsullied army and the Khal Jaqhal's army as well. Either by accident or because I thought it was gamey.
But then I set on to defeat the White Walkers with my dragons.
First war, no luck. Hired Golden Company and amassed a 17k army but even then couldn't defeat them (Their numbers were around 90k)
I eventually lost the war and half the North to Winter. Actual winter, meanwhile, got worse and worse, reducing my manpower and crippling my economy.
My last resort was declare War for the Dawn on them and call for aid. Here's when the problems begin.
- Clicking "Send for aid in Essos" or "Call the Realm for Aid" does nothing.
- Apparently War for the Dawn isn't triggering the megawar mechanics. None of the wardens does anything against the white walkers.
- I can't amass a decent army, can't call or control my vassals' army (Which I calculate would be enough to defeat them)
- All I can do is wait to lose war after war which hits my prestige.
My suggestions:
- Implement some Azor Ahai decision for the ruler on the Iron Throne or other meeting certain requirements to align with a Red Priest and eventually convert to Rhllor before/during War for the Dawn. This could lead to a Lightbringer event that gives said ruler some big advantage against white walkers. I know there's a chance of one showing up randomly but this would be a special occasion.
- Allow the Iron Throne to raise vassals' armies for War for the Dawn since it won't trigger the megawar thing.
- Tweak the AI somehow. Even during the first war with the WWs, I couldn't beat them because my allies' armies wouldn't stack up with mine. It makes no sense becoming the Ruler of the Iron Throne to save it from Winter if you can't even coordinate its armies against a greater evil.
- Allow for using more than one dragon in battle. I'm pretty sure Daenerys has three for a reason.
- Give some conclusion for the rest of the world even if Westeros ends up a complete frozen wasteland. I mean, just like the Targaryens fled Valyria after the Doom and went on with their lives, maybe the Doom of Westeros should allow for any dinasty on the island to flee and start a new life in Essos without living in permanent winter.
