Hi
I have a question, when the game starts to run (Steam version)
There are three options
"General game, Steam multiplayer, Nakama CrossPlay multiplayer"
Where is the difference between these three?
I know Nakama Backend
Does this mean that I can use Nakama, an open source game server
Set up a multiplayer server EU4, and does this mean that the quality of the multiplayer connection can be improved? It is not limited by the network speed of the host? (Generally speaking, a multiplayer game with about 20 people It's basically an acceptable upper limit of play)

If this is the case, are there any reference documents to test? For example, cloud-based (GCP, AWS) multiplayer online games can easily break through the upper limit of 20 people, and can also perform multiplayer games at speed 3 stably

Please forgive me for my bad English, the above are all using Google Translate (Chinese>English)

In dev diary for 1.30.6
  • Fixed new Nakama server IDs not fitting into server ID field.
  • Steam version allows to switch between Nakama and Steam multiplayer backends.
  • Fixed so your steam username is used as MP nickname if your paradox account doesn't have one.
  • Fixes to reduce the amount of times you have to login into your paradox account to make nakama multiplayer easier to use.
I have no idea what does it mean

Its multiplayer software: https://heroiclabs.com/multiplayer/

Its one of the available backends for multiplayer.

And yes you can set up a server. You do it inside the game - so no need for any specification to use it.

Thanks for the explanation. What is the difference between general game and Steam multiplayer in launch options?
They are trying to make sure the game works on other plattforms so have added other options then Steam multiplayer - to make multiplayer possible without steam account.

So it just means that more people can play multiplayer. For the average user it should not matter at all.
It's more an internal thing for Paradox.
