I am just about to get started with 1.09. What exactly is the issue with settings for version 1.09? I've seen something mentioned about settings getting lost, but I didn't really follow it.

What gets lost?

When does it get lost?

How can I avoid this problem?

Thanks.

The reports have been that changes you make to things like the message settings are not preserved. One user reported that making the relevant file config.eu read-only fixed it for him.

To be clear you have to make the changes you want then make the file read only.

Does this mean that copying an old config file will no longer save the time of changing the message settings? This seems to be what is happening to me.

That is not what he was talking about.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood. But it seems a related matter, & has been my experience with 1.09. The config file I've used for ages is ignored when I copy it into a new installation, & this seems true whether it make it read-only, or not.

Prob. not compatible with the new version.

I've tried with config files created under the new version (109). OTOH, I haven't had any problem with the options I choose staying chosen, within a given installation. It's just that I can't seem to transfer them to any new installation (I have several, for vanilla & several mods).

Sounds strange, that is the opposite problem of everyone else.
