I was looking into doing some more modding on Stellaris, but I am also interessted in keeping my Ironman achievments comming in, so I thought I'd get a list up and running.
I am fairly new to modding PDX games, so i would like a nice overview before I started doing to much to not get the desired results.

Please correct me in the areas I am wrong :)

As far as I know, these breaks Ironman:

*NEW Portraits (since they mess with the 00_species file.)
*Any mod that changes goverments, ethos, etc.?
*Interface mods ?

Thinks that dont.
Flag/symbols mods.

Anything that messes with any files outside of localization and graphics will result in a differing checksum, thus breaking it for Achivements.

(If I am wrong, please correct me!)

It's actually a bit different from previous Paradox games, and changes in the localization and the graphics will also change the checksum.
I noticed that namelist mods also prevent achievements.
So everything but new portraits will prevent you to get achievements.

Interesting! That's a bit weird and silly, but okay!

I've noticed this myself (unfortunately in my primary gamesave.

Does anyone know if ironman gamesaves following mods can reverted (have mods removed) in order to allow achievements again?
Also, how do I check the checksum? I've tried turning on/off all of my mods and these do not seem to change either the 4 letters following the version number or the version tooltips. Am I looking in the right place?

I believe anything that alter game balance will break ironman. But i found out that while you can't start new ironman games, you can enable mods afterward. At least it used to work, don't know if it been changed in 1.1.

Portraits and new ship meshes/textures don't change checksum (if you do it well).
You can check it on the launcher (where you can selection languages/mods) and in the main menu (new game, load etc..) : two values should be the same.
This said, I'm still not sure if modding prevents achievement even if ironman is enabled.
